@CountyDownIeUk

A trick I used to use when I was with telus and part of my plan had free calling to my 5 favourite friends. One of those "friends" was the 1 800 HELP BC number. I would ask them to transfer me to local government agency by saying I was out of the local calling area so I would not use up my 300 anytime minutes. It would work as well on the $15 plan as the initial call is to a toll free number transferring you to that local number is still metered as toll free.

To pre-verify your account include your full name, address, email, phone # and 4 digit acct pin #

I just looked at my usage and add on summary.

It shows 4 minutes left.

Check checked usage using date range and rounded up all minutes. Also took the sort to group all outbound minutes together.

I used 96 minutes (excluded calls to 800 NANP numbers)

I used to NANP 800 numbers 11 minutes.

Verdict is.....NOT COUNTED AGAINST THE 100 OUTBOUND MINUTES.

So there is another option to verify.

And I keep forgetting to use my voip.ms account to call out to 800 numbers. 🥴 Which is free for sure.

I had a balance with them when I ported my number out....is a savings option if some one is interested. But is Wi-Fi or data calling.

Good to know thanks. I was thinking the bot might have an answer with it’s annoy multiple questions. 🤣

Great question but most members say it won’t be deducted from your 100 minutes.

Only way to find out is to confirm with a CS_Agent with Chat and keep us posted.

Not sure if PM Support will just give the "official" answer

but   even couple days ago, it was confirmed by another member that toll free number does not counted towards the 100 mins on the $15 plan

An 800 number is supposed to pick up the callers expenses.

An 800 number may be international, national or provincial.

Basically the 800 number can  specify what numbers to accept calls from.

Best check your minutes left before and after making a call to an 800 number.

I called an 800 number yesterday and had a 15 minute wait...,and they offered a call back....so is better yet.

Some voip services, that are spot on for charging per minute, for sure do not charge.

I guess we all dread being put on hold when on the $15 plan. I have been put on hold by Bank of Nova Scotia for up to 3 hours......so I say....not counted against your minutes.

Unfortunately “usage” is useless to show minutes used from your plan.

HI @Yummy   there is no split verdict.  Many people confirmed that it does not count   🙂

It is a split verdict. Any outgoing call should deduct your minutes. But some people experience differently and their calls are not deducted.

The only way to see if it works for you is to call, spend few minutes on call and check your account afterwards.

Another solution would be to use voip app for such calls.

Yes, @chch518 , it's free to call a toll-free number.

Here's how to check for yourself.

  1. Log onto your self-serve, and take a screen shot of this section below: (note the numbers of minutes used out of your own 100 minute allotment - the example below is 22 minutes).
  2. Make a toll-free call to one of the 800/877 numbers.
  3. Log back in and see if the numbers of minutes changed.

In theory, calling 1-800 numbers should count as outgoing minutes for your $15 plan.  However, in practice, it does not count as outgoing minutes.  This may change at anytime though.

You can try calling and see afterwards whether it will count as outgoing minutes.
