so maybe I should just wait it out as I have told a few people already that no this is not Tiffany, most I just ignored but maybe they will disappear, I was just a bit bum out when I went to do a password with phone number for something and it came back # taken. I will wait it out another month and see if the calls stop. Thanks everyone

Thanks for the interpretation and correction to my post - I read it to be like mine (my number was previously a Telus number) - not PM.  I had a bunch of calls and texts to the individual that used to have this phone number initially and worried if I changed the phone number to a new one that I would just encounter the same type of scenario so stuck it out.  If the number has been given out twice in error, then the only option would be to change it.

That doesn't mean that I'm necessarily right. I don't see an indication either way by the OP. It's just how I read the thread, this coming from someone who myself has had Telus accidently assign my phone number to another customer before.

I had that happen alot when I first took my phone number...some were even collection agencies.  I just kept replying that I didn't know the person and that this phone number now belonged to someone else.  I get very few of them now and so decided to keep the phone number and not do a change.  However if you do find it too bothersome then you always have the option of changing your phone number every 30 days.

This customer doesn't have a choice but to change the number. I am reading this situation to be entirely different than yours. I do not beleive that people are attempting to contact the previous user of this phone number. I believe that Public Mobile gave this phone numbedr to two different people at the same time.

You can change your phone number every 30 days.  Log into your account and under plan and add-ons then click on change phone number.

I am getting calls and text plus I tried to enter the number in a site and it said already taken , how do I go about changing number if mine is still in use, cause its not one it's several?

@RosieRI had the same problem too when I got a new number. I have been getting calls for the previous owner of my number.

If you want to keep the number, just block the call numbers.

@BKNS27 @ksevak

Blockging numbers or waiting may not work. One assumption could be that the phone number was used recently by someone else. I'm actually assuming that the number is still in use but that Public Mobile made a mistake by issuing it again. If that's the case, the only thing that can be done would be to change the phone number.

@RosanneM

Are you receiving any phone calls or text messages?  If you aren't, the number was given to two different people by mistake and you will need to change the number.

@RosanneM

When you call your number do you get your voicemail?

I seemed to have the same thing when I first started here over two years ago. I didn't know what was going on so I just told callers/texters that they got the wrong number. I kinda think from those callers/texters and the way they sounded that maybe the original owner might have been up to no good and so maybe abandoned it without a fight.

@RosanneM    Sounds like this is a new number for you and it just might be easier to get it changed to another number as already suggested, although it's strange that you're still (most likely) getting calls for a previous owner of your number as deactivated numbers stay in a pool for 90 days before becoming available for use again.

If you like the number you could wait it out eventually it will stop.

Also for the apps and services eventually Tiffany will be claiming her accounts back
