I have a package that includes 500MB + 500MB at 3G Speed. I also have a 2GB one-time data bonus. I have to video conference an upcoming event without access to wifi and am concerned that the 3G speed will be too slow. Is there a way to set up my account use the 2 GB data instead of the 500 MB (3G speed) when I need it for that event.

No you do not! 🤣 You have $15 Plan and your 250MB will be used in no time.

PM's speed for video conference calling should be adequate. my suggestion would be to find out how long the call is going to be. you will most likely need to upgrade your plan to at least 5GB or more

You may wish to consider a pre-paid (short-term) plan with a carrier that offers full LTE (or even 5G speeds depending on your location) if you absolutely need reliability during the upcoming video conference.
I might be less confident you'll achieve that with PM data speeds.

Connect to Shaw or Telus free wifi available almost anywhere.
I don’t think it makes any difference on 3G for online conference.

Any data allowance will be at the same speed.
Your connection will use your Plan's data first and then seamlessly continue to use add-on.
There is no way to use add-on first then Plan's allocation.

@abm7790 They are all the same speed. Unless you are are those in grand-fathered plans with true LTE speed, the rest of us on the current PM plans are all on 3G speed. What it meant is if we connects on LTE, our speed will be capped at 3Mpbs. You can try to change to 3G ONLY on your network selection. If you connect to 3G, your speed can go up to 12Mpbs but you will have a bigger latency.
