I'm trying to use my UMIDIGI A15 smartphone as a Wi-Fi hotspot to connect my laptop (running Windows 10) to the net while I'm out, as my laptop doesn't have a SIM card. I set up my smartphone as a Wi-Fi access point, naming the SSID (network name) “A15.” However, the network doesn’t show up in the list of Wi-Fi networks on my laptop. Even when I try to manually create a connection to “A15” on my laptop, I get a message saying “Cannot connect.”
I haven't set up any blacklist on the phone, and adding the laptop's MAC address to a whitelist didn't work either. I've searched through previous posts here for a solution, but I haven't found anything that resolves the issue. Help, please!

your phone has the latest OS? maybe there is bug and hope a new OS update helps
did you also try to reach out Umidigi for support? and mtry also post on other forums. Not sure if Umidigi has one itself

I've most recently discovered:
On my UMIDIGI phone, the default setting on the "Set up Wi-Fi hotspot" page has the
"Select AP band" option set to "2.4-GHz band." However, when I changed this to "5-GHz
band preferred," my laptop was finally able to detect the "A15" network. This probably
means it wasn't picking up the 2.4 GHz signal from my UMIDIGI phone at all.
But I don't want to just leave it at "Well, great, just use the 5 GHz band and problem solved!"
Here's why: my laptop's WLAN modem is compatible with the 2.4 GHz frequency, and, more
importantly, I can connect to other devices in my room, like my broadband router and other
non-UMIDIGI devices, on the 2.4 GHz band without any issues.
So, I'd appreciate it if you could continue helping me look into this.

For your hotspot problem, first can you use the data without problem?
If so, check APN again. There might be a bit more work than simply updating. Many confirmed that you need to delete the current APN profile first. Then Add new profile and add according to this, please note case-sensitive and do not add extra spaces. Remember to save the new APN and then reboot the phone before you try

you asked others to respond on the forum please. Did anyone try to private message you? would you mind to share more details?
for PM authorization code, you can try to check mark on the box for Trusted device and the system will ask you for the code less
for your hotspot problem. Your laptop still not able to see your SSID? Are try trying to hotspot on the 2.4 or 5.8 GHz? please share the screenshot of the hotspot setting on your phone as well as the APN settings

I appreciate that people are willing to answer my question, but many are responding via PM. Is this a tradition or common practice on this forum? However, using PM requires verification codes every time, which is cumbersome, and others cannot benefit from the answers. Respond on the forum instead please.
I have tried adding 'DUN,' but it hasn't worked.

OP not sees the SSID at all on the laptop, so, it is not a problem with APN yet. If it is APN, OP should see the SSID and just have cannot access internet

hi @MarcoRossi First, PM does not block hotspot
and that fact that your laptop does not see the SSID was the hotspot setup was not done properly
can you post screenshot of the mobile hotspot screen on your phone?
