I recently purchased an unlocked Nokia 2780. I’ve been a public mobile subscriber for a while now, using a cat s22 flip and iPhone 12. For some reason the Nokia 2780 would function, I could place and receive calls as well and send texts, but never send or recieve mms messages despite being notified to download the mms message (it would always fail). I tried various apn settings found on other threads here, some missing details or not having the same options. New to KaiOS, each apn has its own setting (data, mms, tethering etc) I tried different proxy’s, different Mmsc ports but couldn’t get it to work. Would anyone be able to walk me through the correct settings? Also ran the Imei through Telus’ compatibility checker and it came up as unusable, but how accurate is that for Public Mobile? Any help is greatly appreciated. Inserting the SIM card automatically populated factory apn settings that I tried copying and tweaking ever so slightly.

Great, thank you for the help. I have tried all above with no success. With 3G being phased out over time I’m going to chalk it up to incompatibility with 4g bands missing. It’s a shame, this phone was advertised to work on all major carriers in Canada! Thanks to all.

the important ones are
name: any name will do
APN: sp.mb.com
(or try all upper case SP.MB.COM)
password
mms proxy mmscproxy.mobility.ca
mms port 8799
mmsc http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc
(or try: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mmsc)
authentication
APN type default,supl,mms
or default,mms,agps,supl,fota,hipri
(might need to include DUN for hotspot, please note case sensitive)
protocol IPv4
roaming protocol IPv4
if it works, great, if not, then possibly it is not supported then
And one thing, your phone does not have all the 4G bands PM uses, so, it could be the reason MMS not downloading. However, your phone has both 3G bands PM uses: 850 and 1900. So, after you set the APN as above, I would set the phone to 3G only and test on 3G network first

Thank you for the detailed reply! I have tried the settings you provided with multiple variations and still no luck. In KaiOS under apn settings I have the following: Data settings, Message settings, a-gps settings, tethering settings, ims settings. I have been editing only the message settings (adding my own apn). Data works, wifi turned off, the built in turn by turn google maps also functions. Phone shows VoLTE and 4g connections in the top right. Under Message Settings for APN I have only these options in order:
name
APN
identifier
password
http proxy host
http proxy port
mms proxy
mms port
mmsc
authentication
APN type
protocol
roaming protocol

for MMS, make sure you have your mobile network turned on before you try to download the MMS message.
if that still fails, try setting the full APN again. There might be a bit more work than simply updating. Many confirmed that you need to delete the current APN profile first. Then Add new profile and add according to this, please note case-sensitive and do not add extra spaces. Remember to save the new APN and then reboot the phone before you try
