Hi Folks,

Recently I just on board Public Mobile and I subscribed 4G plan, 29 for 20G which is a very good deal. The only problem is my phone only get 3G speed instead of 4G It showed 3G on mobile data. My phone is Realme C31 which supports 4G network. I followed the steps to set up the APN.

- Name: Public Mobile

- APN: sp.mb.com

- MMSC proxy: 74.49.0.18

- MMSC: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc

- MMS port: 80

- MCC: 302

- MNC: 220'

I really don't know what is wrong and hope someone can help me out. Thanks. By the way, my phone only has " MMS proxy ", there is no " MMSC proxy". Does that matter? Thanks

If you don't mind the 3G speeds, continue to use for now.  Then you can upgrade your phone in the future.

The phone has no problem for calls and texts, only with data speed. I tested the sim card with my wife's phone, it works on 4G.  Softech is right.

@Jimmywong they said it is compatible because it will work on some networks in Canada.  Even in PM, it works, just that it does not have enough compatible bands for a reliable connection. Your phone will works on LTE if band 5 is there , but it won't be reliable with just 1 compatible band on 4G/LTE network.

It is ok for a travel phone for roaming in Canada, but you really shouldn't use it as a day-to-day phone on PM network

@Jimmywong

It is not the ideal phone for Public mobile, but it may be useable....

How do you find the actual service though?  Able to call with no issues?  What about data usage? Texts?

It does not have VoLTE so voice calling may be spotty at times also.

Try to find down the problem from your phone or your network . Insert sim card to another good phone to see how it work .

your phone is not designed for Canadian market and does not have enough compatible bands on both 3G and 4G.  (note 1 compatible band on 3G and 1 compatible bands on 4G, which is not enough.)  While it works on 3G, it won't work great, you will have dropped calls and data won't work great even on 3G.  You need another phone for reliable connection on PM network

These are the bands your phone has. BOLD are the compatible bands

3G bands HSDPA 850 / 900 / 2100
4G bands 1, 3, 5, 8, 38, 40, 41

these are what PM needs
