Why is the advertisement for the $15 Plan different from actual activated Plan?

jinayelim
Good Citizen / Bon Citoyen

The advertisement for the $15 Plan states:

100 minutes Canada-wide minutes

+ BONUS 250 MB with AutoPay

Unlimited Incoming Calls

Unlimited International Text and Picture Messaging

After activating my SIM and setting up my account, my detail plan showed up as

This plan includes: -

- 100 Minutes Canada-wide Talk + Unlimited Incoming Minutes

- 250 MB at 3G speed

- Unlimited International Text

What happened to the Picture Messaging as advertised?  Isn’t this false advertisement?

Could someone please help explain?

Thank you.

on your J1ace that you have now, are you using the same SIM card (phone number) that was on  your iPhone before?  You might have to turn off iMessage before you move to Android (J1ace), your iPhone friend still think you are on iMessage and still trying to send via iMessage instead of MMS.

@jinayelim

Check for updates on the J1 .

At least it is working MMS messaging for your iPhones.  Your old Samsung Galaxy J1 needs to have data working properly and active to send/receive MMS.

@jinayelim

To send SMS/MMS to all....

  1. Tap Settings from your Home screen.
  2. Select Cellular.
  3. Tap the Cellular Data switch to turn it on, if necessary. Otherwise, just leave it on.
  4. Tap Settings on the upper-left corner to return to the previous menu.
  5. Then tap Messages.
  6. Scroll to MMS Messaging option. Tap the switch to turn the feature off and then back on. Doing so will refresh your iPhone’s MMS functions.
  7. To let your phone send group messages, turn on Group Messaging option.
  8. To let your phone send messages using cellular data when iMessage isn’t available, turn on Send as SMS option.

@jinayelim

Samsung galaxy J1 can send and receive MMS. But Android phones won't recieve iMessages unless you configure your settings to convert your iMessages to SMS/MMS for Android recipients.

Your iPhone to iPhone is likely fully iMessage through instant messaging which uses any internet connection.

Turn off wifi. Turn on cell data. Send to a non-iphone.

With wifi off, can you also browse the internet?

With wifi on and cell data off, can you check for updates.

Hello,

I am also on the $15 plan. Picture messaging is included in the plan, but to send or receive one you need to have your mobile data activated. The mobile data used to download or upload an MMS (multi-media) message does not count in your data plan, meaning that even if you do not have any data left in your data plan/data add-on you can still save and recieve MMS messages.

I hope I helped,

Omar

MMS picture feature finally worked when I sent from iPhone XS Max to iPhone XR.

My old Samsung Galaxy J1 ace only supports SMS text.  Has no MMS capability!

 @jinayelim : Can you turn off wifi and make sure iMessage has mms turned on. And for good measure check for any updates (on wifi).

It is still unable to send MMS messages!

i could send and receive the SMS text only.

Yes.  Data working fine.  I went to check usage stats.  Showed I had used some data.

@jinayelim

Is your data working properly?  Turned on?

iPhone XS Max.  All MMS feature enabled.

@jinayelim

Do you have mobile data? Is it enabled?. Did you edit your APN or did it set up automatically? What is the make and model of your phone?

@jinayelim

Is your data turned on?  MMS messaging does not use up data, but you will need to turn it on. Which model phone?

I can’t send MMS with attached photos.

@jinayelim

My account to says the same but I have picture texts. They don't always fill in all the details around here.

I did try to send pictures attached to my SMS text messages to my office-issued mobile, but the entire message & photo was never received.

I noted that the message was sent as MMS.  But to MMS message was received.

When I tried to send just SMS text, I received the SMS text.

Am I supposed to enable any settings on my mobile?

please advise.

Thx
