What just happened?

Ok this is weird.

We just had a Powe outage in Rosemont La Petite Patrie, Montreal but what is weird is that when we lost the electricity I also lost Public Mobile's data only voice and text was working even if I switched from 5G to 4G.

This is scary.

So if we don't have electricity in the neighborhood that means no one can use data?

Also my Wifi is always off so that wasn't the reason why I wasn't able to use the public mobile data.

My electricity is back and I'm able to use the public mobile data again but it is weird that when we don't have electricity the public mobile data also goes down it shouldn't be like that.

PM has 3G , 4G and 5G networks

if voice is working, usually it means the 3G network is working.  By changing to 3G on your phone, it can force the data to use the 3G if the network is working.  But if your phone has no such choice, then there is not much you can do. But still, try to reboot your phone once

Thank you all for your feedback.

Just one small thing there is no 3G option why trying to switch.

The only options were 5G, 4G and LTE no 3G option but everything is up and working now.

Thank you.

@Huairen

without a back-up generator at tower site, the cell won't work in a wide spread power outage.

everything use electricity 🙂

it really depends on many factors.  But usuer network tower has backup power for short outage.

Try changing your network to 3G and test data again
