Hello,

I have a Samsung S21 FE 5G, and recently switched carriers to PM. I signed up for a $29 10gig 5G plan, but I see I do not actually get 5G, only 4G or LTE.

Since it looks like PM doesn't support my phone, I want to switch mmto the promo that is $29 20 gig 4G plan.

Please advise how to do this. I dint get that option when I click on chnage my subscription in the PM app.

Thank you

@celerypowered There is no reason to downgrade to 4G speed as you're getting the same features. The plans being labeled 4G speed or 5G speed is arbitrary and makes no difference for the connection on your phone.

That $29 plan is for new activations only so you can't get it as an existing customer. The $30 plan will give you 20GB but you will lose roaming service in the US and Mexico and the ability to call those countries compared to the 10GB plan you're on.

@celerypowered  I mean yes you could cancel that plan and create a new public mobile account with new sim and new email  to get that plan , but you lose your phone number unless you port the number out and back in on the newly created plan it’s doable but bit of time and extra money to do it that way

I am only seeing 6 mb/s on LTE+, and that is with 4/5 signal strength

I know that is an option but I want the promo rate. Nowhere does PM say certain 5G phones are not compatible.  Can I cancel this subscription and get the new $29 deal?

Yes, it is a canadian S21 FE 5G that was initially purchased thru Roger's.

@celerypowered  For $1 more there’s still 20GB for $30 plan available in our accounts to change to and give you extra 10GB to use over 30 days

Is it a Canadian model and is the software updated? Sometimes that can affect the ability for 5G to work on Public Mobile.

hi @celerypowered 5G plan is more a 5G speed plan that gives you top speed of 250Mbps

so, even you are using 4G, you will reach speed close to 250Mbps.  If you change to the 4G plan, your top speed will only be 100Mbps

@celerypowered - The $29 20GB Plan is for New Activations only. Also 5G is a term market. LTE/4G can achieve 5G speeds, if not, even faster at times.
