I was notified today, that my number has been changed, i have been with public for just over a month, and my old number worked fine, but now they've changed it to something else, also, they took out this months payment through direct debit, which not only did i not set up or authorize, but i never gave them my banking info, and now im in a runaround with no customer service, anyone know wtf is going on?

That is Not possible. Payments to PM could be done through credit card, VISA debit or vouchers. There is no direct debit option at all.

1. Verify your caller ID number by calling someone or check your number in your settings in your phone. Only you can change by logging into your My Account.
2. Has your My Account been hacked? Do you have second factor turned on? If not, I suggest you do. And also change your password, just in case.
3. Look at your transactions to verify if the text is true or fake.
4. How did you first pay? They retain that info. In your My Account set up with auto pay on or off?
5. How many days since you first joined...30? If not 30....is fishy. Or ditto for 60 days.
6. Did you take a new number....or port your number to PM?

@bcofell I suspect you have not receive any incoming calls on your PM sim card since you joined
Can you still login to your old carrier? check if they care still charging you. I think they are and your old service still work if you put the old sim card in a phone. You likely did not receive a text from your old carrier or did not reply YES within 90 minutes and hence the porting was never completed. After a full month, the porting request will be cancelled and PM will just randomly assign you a number
What you need to do now is put make sure your old sim card from the old carrier still work, you can still receive calls and text on that old sim card. Then login to My Account and use Change phone number to re-request porting. This time, you should receive a text from your old provider and you need to reply within 90 mins
Let us know how it turns out

How did you get this notice?
By email or text?
It sounds like Spam to me. Hackers are trying to get into your account.
Change your password and contact a CS_Agent to investigate by private messaging or create a ticket through SIMon Chatbot on this Community page.

When you signed up you needed to use a credit card or Visa Debit card to pay. That then automatically turns on pre-authorized payments.
It sounds like your porting didn't actually work. Are you sure you've been receiving calls fine all this time? Is your old account still working? Active? Do you still have the sim? Does it work?
So if the porting doesn't work then they give you a new random number. You could use the change number function if your old account is still alive. Hopefully you didn't manually cancel it. A proper port out would have closed it.
