Upgrading my plan

Rick007

Hello everyone,

Happy Thanksgiving!

It's been awhile since I have been online but I have a question regarding upgrading my plan.  I have my original plan (3G), yes 3G and please stop laughing, lol.  My current phone is not 5G compatible but is 4G and looking at the offer currently available, when reading through the notes it mentions losing current promotions. Is this the same as my rewards?  I current have $7 in rewards that get credited to my bill, will I lose these if I switch to a new 4G plan?  In addition, if I switch to the Public Points program, do I lose my current rewards or do they just get transferred over?

As usual, you input is very much appreciated.

Again, Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

@Rick007 , no laughing from me. I’ve been here since 2019, due to my income & needs I am still on the $15 Plan with 250mb at 3G Speed! 😃 I’m holding out for a plan that I can’t refuse!

BTW...there's many of us still hanging on to that $15 and $25 plan using 3G. No need to feel embarrassed  or self-conscious about it. Just remember all the $$$ we're saving compared to "better" plans !  Who's laughing now, huh !!  😏

Also note you do not need a 5G phone to take advantage of a 5G plan. Pick the plan that suits your needs the best.

@Rick007 first, DO NOT move to public points, you don't have to

You can freely change plan and it wont' affect your current rewards, ie, you will get to keep your current $7 rewards per cycle.  This has also been  confirmed by Community Manager here:

Will I be moved to the new rewards program if I change my plan?
Changing your plan won’t automatically transfer you to our new Public Points rewards program. If you’re currently on our legacy rewards program, you will continue to stay on it. However, we encourage you to explore Public Points, as it opens up even more opportunities for savings.

@Rick007

You will not lose any rewards by switching plans. Only way to lose your legacy rewards is to manually opt into the points system or to close the account. The community strongly recommends to never switch from legacy rewards to points.
