If the phone is locked to the telus network which provider's Sim card are you trying to put in it?

Old....like a 4 or 4S or ??
Never the less look here and it will tell you if it is locked to a carrier and which one.
https://imei24.com/check/iphone_lock_checker/
PM will unlock it for you....just contact a CSA.
So the "another phone" is an old iPhone...just verifying??

hi @Myles_T
this can show clearly if your iPhone is locked:
Settings > General > About > Find Carrier Lock
if it shows No SIM restrictions, then your iPhone is unlocked

Hi @Myles_T if the phone was originally from PM or Telus or Koodo , and the phone gives that error when you put in other sim cards, then yes, PM should be able to help. You can then open ticket with CS agent here:
at : https://publicmobile.ca/chatbot.
First type Forgot Login,
then select the only choice there: "Contact..",
finally click link the blue link about submit a ticket
Another page will open and just follow: .
After ticket is submitted, make sure to check your Community Inbox(top right corner envelope icon) periodically for response from PM
If you have problems submitting a ticket, you can open ticket by private message (but this can take longer):

@Myles_T may sound dumb, but could the SIM be not correctly aligned? Try removing simtray/SIM, make sure SIM is inserted correctly so the angled side lines up with the angled side in the tray. Also make sure SIM is not upside down. No disrespect but I like to start troubleshooting at the most very basic.
If your phone came out of the US maybe it's carrier locked to the carrier? Or if it was a Bell device, it's possible you need a Bell SIM to unlock the device.
As others have noted, knowing where the phone came from would help point you in the right direction. 🙂

@Myles_T @If the phone is locked you will need to get the carrier it came from to unlock it for you
01-12-2023 07:18 PM
That's possible, @dust2dust
Geez... surprised such a device might still be operable.
@Myles_T , where, exactly, did you acquire the replacement device?
01-12-2023 07:16 PM
Did the phone originate out of Telus or Koodo back before 2017?
01-12-2023 07:16 PM
@Myles_T So, was the phone you said locked working on PM sim card?
PM sells only unlocked phone, but, your phone could be locked by Telus/Koodo. Do you remember which provider you got the phone from? or an easy thing to check is which provider sim card is working on this phone without the "sim not supported" error?

As far as I know, Public Mobile does not lock phones to its network.
It also does not supply phones through its parent company, TELUS, that are locked.
Contact a Customer support agent re this.

Watch for their response in your Community private mailbox which will be indicated by a number on the small envelope icon to the left of your Community avatar.
