Greatly appreciate your feedback 😃

@Jacko123  You can check in Settings.  For example in an iPhone go to Settings - General - About - Carrier Lock.  It should say "no sim restrictions" meaning it is unlocked.   My iPhone with PM certainly isn't locked. You can try a similar path for Android or let us know what phone you have and someone may know how to find it in Settings.

My previous service provider was PM and still is and purchased my phone unlocked. Knowing this, a community member responded, PM does not lock our phones. That said, are you able to also agree that this is correct?

My previous service provider was PM and still is and purchase my phone unlocked at that time. Knowing this, a community member responded that PM does not lock our phone and that I should be good to switch out the SIM without an issue in Thailand. That said, can you confirm that this is correct?

PM does not lock phone. And try a non Telus, non Koodo sim card on it.  If it works, then the phone is not locked

@Jacko123 A carrier would never lock a phone they didn't sell you directly, and even then they haven't legally been able to do that in Canada since 2017. You're good to use your phone with a Thai carrier.

My previous service provider was PM and still is and my new phone came unlocked. I just needed to know if PM locked.my phone before I travel and get a new SIM

Any phone sold in Canada since 2017 must be sim unlocked per federal legislation. Also, as noted Public Mobile does not sell phones, so even if it was locked you wouldn't be able to get help for that here (you'd need to go back to where you bought it).

you sure your phone was locked?  try different sim cards from different carriers. If it works on multiple brands , then the phone is already unlocked

If you believe your phone is Locked, you have to contact company which sold you that phone or previous service provider.

One way to confirm if your phone is locked is to insert SIM from other(s) providers. Or you can go to any mobile store (Bell, Rogers, etc.) and kindly ask to verify if your phone is locked or not.

hi @Jacko123 PM does not sell phones anymore and when they sold phones back then, they were all unlocked

if you got your phone elsewhere, you have to as the carrier you got the phone from to unlock

@Jacko123

PM doesn't lock cellphones...you should be good to go anywhere.

added...just take out PM sim and install foreign sim when you get there.
