Switching to public mobile from Mexico

Hi! I switched to public mobile a few months ago. I just got the offer for unlimited text and minutes in Canada us and Mexico. My family spends a lot of time In mexico so this is great. My question is my mother in law is not with public and doesn’t use her phone in Mexico because of the crazy roam like home rates on her carrier. Is it possible for me to help her change to public while she is in Mexico? She would need to bring her number to public and activate everyting from Mexico. With her current carrier she is on airplane mode she only gets iMessages and emails etc when she is within wifi. Any help would be appreciated I think this pM plan is much better for her and a better rate. Thank you

One option is to go with Telcel or Movistar great rates 150 pesos a month calling unlimited to Mex. Can. USA

To receive the port out text, turn off data roaming on her phone first, then take it out of airplane mode. Any postpaid carrier (which is sounds like she's with if she has the Roam Like Home option) will allow for free incoming text messages.

hi @BH303 supposingly you can.  You have to activate either with a physical sim shipped to Medxco or esim

however, the trouble would be the porting. Her old carrier would  send a text to her old carrier sim and she need to reply Yes.  That can be done if she has roaming service with her old carrier.  Or you have to call the old carrier and see if they accept your verbal approval to the port

@BH303  It might work if she had service on her current phone with another provider. To download the app and activate eSIM unless  your happen to have physical sim on ya , otherwise she would have to wait until she back home to do it , because she would also need to be able to receive sms text to sign up and confirm full access
