Please assess my thoughts below, regarding my mobile needs while traveling in 2025.
The details of my current plan with Public Mobile ($35 per month):
- 75GB of data for use within Canada, US & Mexico at 5G speed up to 250 Mbps
- Unlimited Canada, US & Mexico minutes and messaging plus unlimited international text and picture messaging
- Call Display, Voicemail, Call Waiting, Call Forwarding & Conference Calling
I will be travelling to Fiji, New Zealand and Australia (Oceania) for about 3 months, later this year.
I will add the Public Mobile 300 International Long-Distance Minutes ($15 per month) package.
I have an iPhone 14 Pro, with 2 eSims.
I will buy an international eSim for Data Coverage.
I will continue to use my existing phone no. for text messages and phone calls between Oceania and Canada, with no additional charges.
One of my main concerns is receiving text messages for two-factor authentication (2FA), from my Canadian banks and credit card companies. I MUST KNOW that this will work properly.
Please let me know if my thoughts are correct.
Thanks

sorry, you wont' get 2FA text when you are in Australia as there is no roaming service for PM there.
what you should do is to ask the bank if they have other way to receive 2FA like Authenticator app. You should do that regardless for PM able to send text overseas as using Sms for 2FA is unsafe anyway

The international long distance minutes can only be used when calling FROM Canada. I would highly recommend using an ESIM when you are travelling.

Your PM plan will not work anywhere away from North America. The 300 international minutes only work when calling FROM Canada.
You will not receive 2FA.
