We are driving into states for 4 weeks next month. I just switched from Bell to Public.

Do we need to buy roaming data or is data included. Messaging and calls should be or pics sent through messaging.

Want to make sure that if people are surfing web while we are driving I have access

Make sure Roaming Data is enabled in cellphone settings and your data should work in US just as it would if you were in Canada.

@WelderBill

you must have a cellphone that is on the Public Mobile whitelist of VoLTE enabled phones, otherwise you won't be able to make calls in USA.  Here's a list to get you started...but let us know what cells you're using in USA. Also, be aware that when you get to USA (or even close to the border) you'll get a Welcome to USA message with instruction to buy minutes...you can just ignore it if you have either a Canada / US plan OR a 15 Day US Roaming add-on.

HI @WelderBill

depends on your plan, if you have a Canada/US/Mexico plan, then it is all included and no extra charge for roaming

if you have a regular Canada only plan, then you might want to think about changing to that plan, which is cheaper than buying roaming addon

Yes, there is roaming addon option, but it has an expiry of 15 days, so for a 4 weeks trip, you need to buy it twice.  One 15 days 3GB buddle already costs $30, so, it will be at least $60 and just 6GB in the 30 days , that's why the Canada/US/Mexico plan is a much better deal

If you subscribed to a Canada-USA (or Canada-USA-Mexico) plan then you’re good to go with all inclusive coverage for voice, data and messaging. Worked like a charm with my lowly iPhone 15 a few months ago

@WelderBill   It depends what plan you have.  If you have a Canada-US-Mexico plan then you don't need to buy an add on, it will work the same whichever country you are in (except for the USA if the phone is not "certified" for VoLTE on Public Mobile in which case data and texting would work but not voice calls).  If you have a Canada only plan then you would need a US roaming add on, which last 15 days from time of purchase.  Do you know what plan you have?
