US Roaming concern prior to purchase

ffodee

In Canada our plan is 3G speed.
I’m confused as to the PM article titled :

The US 3G/HSPA Network Shutdown

Will this impact our upcoming Disney World experience.  Thanks

@ffodee  .then main thing is dose your phone have voLTE for voice do you know ?? If not you can run into issues with voice . You can check this now turn off wifi set phone to LTE now make a call does the phone stay on LTE or drop to 3G ?? If sty in LTE you shouldn’t have any issues while in the US . However if it drop to 3G then when in the US you will need to rely on T mobile 2G network for voice which is very hit or miss

@ffodee   What phone do you have?  Is it on the VoLTE list near the bottom of this page?  A VoLTE enabled phone should work for voice calls even with the shutdown of 3G networks in the US. VoLTE makes more of a difference than being on a 3G plan which relates only to speed.  If you don't have VoLTE then you can still get voice calls if your phone can connect to 2G on T-Mobile.

hi @ffodee

no impact, yiu can buy and use US roaming without prob5even you have a 3G plan.

Your 3G plan is in fact a 3G Speed plan.  You can in fact use the 4G and even 5G network in Canada and US, just the speed is capped at 3Mbps

so, you can buy and use US roaming without problem

When you are in US, make sure you connect to either T-Mobile or AT&T, try both and see which one give you best speed.
