I’m trying to create an account with Public using my son’s existing phone number, but he is on my account with Telus. Will cancelling his number affect my account (same account - different phone number)

There is only concern if it's the account holders phone # being ported out. Personally I prefer to activate with a temporary phone # in case theres an activation issue with the sim card you will still be able to maintain service with the Telus phone # while you contact customer support. If all goes well you can access the self serve account to port in afterwards thru the profile page because the one time account verification text will be sent to the temporary phone #. Just remember to update the eversafe ID with the Telus # once the port completes.
Don't forget to add the referral code for the $10 bonus referral credit on the payment page. Depending on the plan chosen there's a couple of different promocodes floating around too that can be entered as well.
You can ask for a promocode here but a referral code can only be asked via private message initiated by you not the referrer.

hi @Mems no it won't affect your main Telus account. They will close the line when the port is done but won't close the Telus account id there are other line s or services still on it

@Mems No it won’t just remember to use the app to activate with public mobile and follow the prompts you get to chose porting number after you make payment
Adding @Mems don’t cancel his number leave his Telus phone number active and leave sim in the phone to reply YES to the confirmation text port ( transfer number to PM) once it’s successfully ported to PM it will automatically close his number on your account with Telus
