In fact, new phones likely require a minor OS update. The phone you got likely was packed at least a month ago. A lot of the time, vendor still working on last minute fix before launch, so there is always a minor OS update a week or 2 after the official launch, that's why most new phones' OS are already outdated when we got it

PM does not support eSIM...
Use the physical sim slot there, move your sim card from your iPhone 12 to 14

How are you transferring that sim? Did you take it out from old phone and put in new one? If not, that's what you need to do.

Updating it now. I assumed it would’ve been updated since it’s brand new!

Is the iPhone updated to iOS 16.0.3?

With normal phones SIM transfer does not require any magic. With apple - good luck.

I'm not an Apple guy, but in general, you just pop the old SIM into the new phone, and Public Mobile is happy.
