Hi, I moved from PEI to Alberta few weeks ago, I found Public Mobile still charge me the same Tax rate in PEI 15% not in Alberta 5%, which is 10% Tax rate different, I couldn't find anything to help me with this, thanks.

But simply buying vouchers in Alberta is likely the easiest solution if a number change is inconvenient. If there is an Autopay bonus involved, it will remain as long as a credit card is registered even if it is never charged.

@ZuckMark- Companies are paid a commission to collect taxes. So in that way they DO charge taxes. Of course under the authority of governments.
There are many same prefixes and then obviously last 4 digits could be possible under many different area codes. Like 782-200-xxxx in Halifax and 236-200-xxxx in Vancouver. So one could very possibly pick up your same 7 digits in a different area code.

did you change your phone number?
No, right?
First you should know that companies DO NOT charge taxes. Taxes are charges by your government . and if you don't agree you are free to move away to another country such as, Russia, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, Haiti, Ukraine, Somalia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, etc...
Second of all, the taxes will be charges based on your cellphone number area code. This means if you want taxes based on your new province you MUST change your phone number. Not only the area code, the whole phone number.
Clear now?

Have you changed your number to an Alberta number ? You're billed as if you're a PEI resident otherwise.
You can buy vouchers at Shell Gas or Walmart (paying Alberta tax)...then dial 611 to add 'em to your account.

@jnjhchen the reason is that PM charges the tax based on the phone number area code. You still have a PEI phone number and hence they charge you that
To take advantage of the tax, go to change to an AB number and PM will charge you the cheaper rate
