Sim Activation - Step 4 Payment error unspecified

There is an unspecified error in processing the sim activation on submit of "step 4".

The payment card fields for fillout does not have the Name on card field to be specified.

just the number / expiry / and the 3-digit security code.

 

Is the name on the card important and "assumed" to be the same as the account First Name , Last name.

or can a 3rd party valid visa debit card be used to complete the activation.
Otherwise I have no idea why it did not process.

 

I read other post about using incognito mode chrome... perhaps that is workaround ?

As suspected ... On removal and re-insertion of SIM card .... Public Mobile got recognized
and service evident.

All good...  Thanks again everyone for your guidance..
and good for everyone to know....  POSTAL CODE is the factor must match the payment card on file postal.

 

@Safeway  Did you reboot the phone with PM SIM card in the phone

On most current phones, the network type setting is a for a preferred network. Set it to LTE.  The phne will adjust the network type automatically as neeeded.

HI @Safeway   try reboot your phone 

 

you should see it connects and  you should be able to make outbound calls

(if you requested porting, then inbound calls will not come until porting completed)

ahhh  SIM status says 
Network : Emergency calls only
Phone number or SIM   ;   Unknown


I guess I should reinstall the sim... I thought i did it perfect...


but I guess the SIM number should appear in the

What other setting should I be looking for... I assume active signal should be instant or at least by now...
been 10 minutes.... phone says "Mobile network not available for voice calls"   when I use a contact in address book.

3g and 4g plans are only about data speed and aren't about the network type.  All plans have access to the same networks. Either way, the LTE in your menus is 4g.

Indeed name on account not linked to card used for payment.
Indeed maybe it was the Postal Code entry which was the issue last night
as replies in this forum indicated is transmitted to payment gateway and that field is presented as required 
on Step 4  ( and no name on card is requested to be provided )... so indeed live chat was mistaken to inform me Name mattered.. it does not.

You're correct that the name is irrelevant.

ok will give it a go.... I thought the name was totally irrelevant as well as my own account does not identify me
and I reload my account no problem...   funny though the account management does not appear to allow "update" your payment card ..  at least I did not spot that edit ability..  I do not use autopay I just keep a credit going on the account..  and was looking for updating card info.. anyway I am not concerned over my account which has been no problem... The profile information int he Public Mobile account is entirely unrelated to payments.

The customer support agent is mistaken.  There is no name checking for credit card payments to Public Mobile.  It's not even submitted to the payment processor, and I can confirm what others are telling you that the name on your Public Mobile account could be anything.  The corrected informaiton should say that card number, expiry date, CVV, and card billing postal code are checked.

there is NO name field presented on Step 4  card info
that is why I believe the live chat guy said they USE (submit) the name you enter for the account holder
as the name assumed to be on the payment card..

@Safeway  Interesting indeed as @hTideGnow  mentioned , I know for certain the credit card doesn’t need to match the name on account … if you activated a account for your child say credit card won’t match the name so … not sure why that was told you .. either way try again clear web browser and incognito private mode and try it again … fingers crossed this time 🙂

We all tested it and find out the address does not matter.  PM only uses the name/number/CCV for credit card validation.

But of course, if you can put in the matching address, go ahead.  Some people cannot because the on the city field there, it does not provide all cities and people have to force to enter a wrong city

I never got past Step $ clicking the button "Activate Sim" .... so I would not "assume" the card was actually charged.... if it did this is pretty flaky ..

I just got off a live chat... was informed its is REQUIRED that the payment card MATCH the name on the account to be established.  So I will try again based on what you believe is the situation ... any card can be used... name on card is irrelevant.. - I know the card I used is good no problem there.. 
They have no specific error message....  I will try again this morning

HI @Safeway   Step 4 , payment, the  number / expiry / and the 3-digit security code, just follow what you see ont he credit card

 

The name and address you used to setup the phone can be different from the name on the credit card you put in on Step 4.    PM is a prepaid provider , they do not validate address with the card holder's address

@Safeway  Just reread your post , the card you use for payment doesn’t need to match the name on the account ,, be sure to ensure it hasn’t expired also

@Safeway  First make sure your credit card wasn’t charged already, if not try again incognito private mode … if it has been charged try sim card in phone and reboot the device to see if services are working
