Service Speed

I have a iphone SE 3rd generation.  The spec. for the phone says it is 5G compactable. I switched from a 3G service to 4G , yet my phone indicates 3G service.  I went to Settings - Cellular - Data Options - Voice & Data But the only options available are LTE or 3G . I'm paying for 4G plan and the phone is capable of 5G  so why am I not able to receive the 4G signal?

Thanks I'll try running of LTE

hi @ooohnoo

first, LTE = 4G.  With LTE,  you should have good speed , close to 100Mbps as you have 4G plan

but make sure your iOS is updated, and your Carrier Profile is also the latest one

The menu only shows LTE or 3G

@ooohnoo

make sure you're up-to-date on software updates...looks like 18.3 is currently available. I also have iP SE 3rd gen...it has 5G, but for best functionality, I just set it to LTE. Battery lasts waaayy longer and very little difference in operation.

PS....could it be that you have an iP SE 2nd gen ? Double check on that as 2nd gen doesn't support 5G.

hi @ooohnoo

manually change the network mode to 5G On or 5G Auto

To change an iPhone to 5G, you can go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options and then select 5G On. You can also choose 5G Auto to automatically switch between 4G and 5G.

Hey @ooohnoo Go into settings - General - (bottom of page) Transfer or Reset iPhone - Reset - Reset Network Settings and then reboot. This may clear the 3G problem and you should have LTE working correctly.

@ooohnoo   Set the phone to LTE since in this context LTE = 4G.
