It seems that the problem I was having yesterday (excessive data usage) is due to the SIM card failing. I would like to know how to get a new one?
thank you

I used private search and the results were the same. both daily and the total in the graphic

hi @Jack34 what browser you use?? generally you click on the 3 dots or 3 lines on top right, and it will give you Incognito or private or secret mode (different name depends on your browser)

thank you for your reply. I was using a browser. I am not sure what secret mode is?

hi @Jack34 are you using the browser to check or using Public Mobile app to check??
if you're using the app , then what you saw on the front page is the total usage for your current cycle as well as your other bonus data usage. You actually have to click usage breakdown to open the next screen to check the actual usage for the current cycle
if you are using the browser to check, then please login using Incognito/private/secret mode on your browser to check again to avoid cache problem

hi, I did as you suggested. I turned the data off my phone and waited more than a day (July 4). my account at PM agreed with this. I turned it on again and since that time my phone has used 429 kb on wifi. My account says July 5 2.3 mb and July 6 0.31 mb which more or less lines up.
On the graphic in my account (a bar showing data usage) my account has gone from ~90 mb to 191.25/250 mb in the same time period.
This can’t be correct. Any ideas?

It has been on wifi the whole time. I have the data turned off again and will see if the data is still being used. It seems to be used for push notifications and other things. Not apps because I am not using the phone and everything I can think of has been turned off and reset.
thank goodness for the bonus data! I will be using it!

I doubt failing physical SIM will cause excessive data usage.
Most likely some data hungry apps and updates are doing that. Do not keep data on when not really using it.

hi @Jack34
did you reset the iPhone Mobile data statistics and then monitor the usage there? It will show you how much data the each app uses

I have no idea. I am waiting for Apple to call me. Taking the SIM card out and in caused a huge spike in date being used according to the phone. (I had been messaging with Apple and have now be passed over to a phone call).

HI@Jack34
how can a failure sim card contribute to that?
but you can get a new sim from Telus or Koodo store. Or you can also order from Amazon.ca
