SIM Network unlock PIN

I just transferred a phone from PC Mobile to Public Mobile. However, it is requesting I put in a network unlock PIN.

I phoned PC Mobile. They said the phone was already unlocked and gave me a code that didn't work. When it failed, they said to contact the new carrier.

Any advice?

Thanks.

I got this sorted out -- contacted Samsung and they gave me two numbers (a master unlock code and a network unlock code) which got it sorted out. 🙂

I'll try Samsung support and see if they help.

It sounds like the security code for your home wifi.

SIM network unlock PIN is unrelated to number porting or Wi-Fi passwords.

I know, but PC Mobile says the phone is definitely unlocked. I think this phone might've been purchased shortly before the CRTC change in 2017 so maybe they're wrong.

I called them again and still no help.

For phoen that have been locked at one point, including yours, the carrier would have no way to know if the device was ever locked (for most devices).  Even if they gave you the unlock code, they would no way to possibly know if you ever proceeded to the unlocking steps. You're going to have to contact Bell/Virgin again.  Short of that, you will have to file a complaint with CCTS.  Bell is required to provide you with the unlock code.

@toomanycats   any chance it is a Samsung phone?  if so , call  Samsung 1-800-726-7864, The only info you will need to provide for a master unlock was the IMEI and where the phone was purchased

Hi @toomanycats   just tell them it is now locked again for whatever reason, you can provide them a screenshot to proof, they just need to give you the code again

explain to them an unlocked phone could be been locked again

No, not wifi. It's locked to the PC Mobile network somehow even though it should be unlocked.

Sorry, but this is mistaken.  A phone asking for the SIM network unlock PIN positively means that the phone isn't unlocked and is locked to your previous carrier still.

Yes, the number got ported over. However, after I restarted the phone it requested the network PIN.

If you ported your number over to PM, it will ask you to confirm with YES you are porting over to PM with the PC SIM in your phone.

Not a network PIN…strange that it ask for a PIN.
