Request to reimburse unauthorized purchases

Dear Public Mobile representative,

I have noticed that the following purchases were posted in my bank account, and they were not authorized by me.  Is it possible that these purchases were charged incorrectly to my bank account?  What process should I follow to dispute these charges?  How can I get my funds reimbursed?

Update: I just found out moments ago that my family member had forgotten to switch the automatic payment card back to her own after Xmas holiday. I was confident that this scenario was not possible.  But in the end, that's exactly what happened. Thank you all for your help.

YOu are saying you do NOT have public mobile service??? No SIM? No account?

Then it is fraud on your card.

This would be an issue that your credit card issuer would need to take care of since it has been compromised, at most public mobile might be able to block the card from further payments but it is your responsibility to report any fraud to your card issuer.

If rate is 15%... 😞

I always think of 13%

@pmqy   If it is compromised, there should be other charges , too.  There should be charges with a lot more amount.

The PM charges  you see look organized and look like a normal regular service charges.  You sure no one in your home used your card and opened an account here?

@pmqy  - Really .. Have you ever had a Public Mobile account/phone number?

Were these the only fraudulent charges on your bank card since December? If you have not connected your visa card company about this yet, then yes, you should definitely do so asap.

I wouldn't bother doing anything else here. I rather doubt they would do anything about the old ones. Tell the credit card to chargeback those charges (might be difficult after all this time but maybe the recent ones) and then have them send you a new one. Keep track of where all you have used your current one like repeating payments so they don't get messed up.

Another victim of ON-centricity. 5, 11, 12, 13, 14.975, 15

The last two can get rounding similarities.

@Yummy   in fact, the rate are all correct:

$16+tax = 18.40

$20+tax = $23

$10+tax = $11.50

$36+tax = $41.39

Still  likely they are "valid"  PM charges , just a matter of if OP's family used the credit card or someone else used it

@Yummy  Ok. my initial $36 was correct!!. , you just confused me

you are in Ontario  But other provinces hav  different tax rates  🙂

Charges do not match up.

$37+tax = 41.81

I cannot come up with any amount to match OP amounts.

Even those even amounts ($23) are very fishy. It looks somebody is buying something in a store and 'public mobile' could be some other 'public mobile' store/service not this mobile one.

Nice mystery.

@pmqy  - have you viewed your transaction history in your Self serve(MyAccount) account, to compare what is valid what may not be matching your bank records?

You can view up to 6 months prior in MyAccount here: https://selfserve.publicmobile.ca/Overview/payment/Payment-History/

HI @pmqy   can you login to My Account/  the credit card charges look ok.  Check with your family first, maybe they have setup a line with PM for couple mnoths and you were aware of?

If you have nothing to do with Public Mobile then charge them all back and get a replacement card. Why did it take 4 months to notice this?

For others who use Visa Debit, is this how it looks on the bank side? Point of Sale?

@Yummy   sorry, typo.. i meant to say $37 + tax

@softech wrote:

@pmqy   are you current Public Mobile customer?  $41.39 is a charge of $36+tax , likely from a $40 plan after some reward discount.  Why would you say it is unauthorized?  If you are current PM customer with Autopay Enabled?  If you don't use PM yourself, maybe your family?  Those $41.39 are normal monthly charge (actually every 30 days as PM runs on 30 days cycle).  The $23 charge would be $20+tax , look like a manual topup

How do you come up with these numbers???

36+13% = 40.68

20+13% = 25.99

No retail will round up to 26 if it is from cc/debit. Only cash is rounded up/down.

[updated to the correct pre-tax price]

[updated 2: my initial $36 was in fact correct]

We are customers like yourself here. Your card might be compromised. What plan you are on and how much do you usually pay for renewal?
