Receiving & outgoing calls consistently ending after 12 secs

I see issues where others have calls disconnecting after 50-55 secs but my grandfather's line have calls end after 12 secs consistently. After reading, I didn't see what the resolution was. Hoping others can share.

@nov_very_own    Interesting...I do remember seeing VoLTE in the settings on the GoFlip although we've not used it for a couple of years now.

curious, what is it called on the phone?  I checked the manual quickly and I don't see the option there.  What is the option call?

You should be ok for now, but be aware that 3G is set to be gone by end of 2025.

Alright, in case folks were wondering... it seems the issue was attributed with VoLTE (on the Alcatel go flip, it's called something else). I disabled it and it works like a charm. But I would assume it's in Public Mobile/Telus' best interest to get it fixed.

@nov_very_own if you have another phone, try to put your sim card in another phone (or swap the phones between your father's and yours). this will force a sim re-provision and could resolve your calling issue.

If nothing works, then I guess you will need support to help to re-provision your accounts from the system

This happens at various locations in Ottawa.

My uncle swapped the SIM and there were no issues so I guess network related. I'll try to initiate either of those 2 methods. Will report back on our findings.

Are you and/or your grandfather currently in USA or Canada? I recall reading about this type of issue occurring while roaming in the USA, with two different roaming add-ons added that include voice calling, causing some kind of collision. Fix was to have CS agents remove one of the add-ons.

To test calling in general, both of you can individually test calling these test numbers which have various options available, the most useful ones are ecording a message and playing it back, and real-time echo test.

Here's the two Canadian lines as per https://thetestcall.blogspot.com/

Toronto: +1 416 342 9562

Victoria: +1 250 412 5922

Maybe that will help isolate if the issue is one or both of your lines affected.

this definitely sounds like a Network or reception issue.

does it occur at the same location or anywhere?

Can you try their SIM card in another device in the same location and see if the problem persists?

it may be worthwhile asking the customer support agents to reset/reprovision the account to see if that may improve things.

To contact a Customer Support Agent, there are 2 methods:

  1. Use the ticketing system for a faster response time. Click here and type Customer Support Agent, then select Contact Us, then select Other (or the topic that more closely matches your request).  Click the result which states Click here to submit a ticket and follow the prompts,  or,

  2. Send a private message to the Customer Support Agent by clicking here  You’ll need to be logged into your Community account for the link to work.

Watch for their response in your Community private mailbox which will be indicated by a number on the small envelope icon to the left of your Community avatar.
