Prepaid Sim card vs Sim card

Can you use a public prepaid sim card if you are not using a prepaid plan

Amazon has Public prepaid sims for sale and I have been trying for 4 months to get a sim card sent from Public so I am wondering if I order the Prepaid Sim card from Amazon if it will work for one of the 5g subscription plans

Any Public Mobile SIM Card will work with any Public Mobile Plan, I've ordered over 200 of these SIM Cards from this Amazon sale already and they work for Activation on any available Plan available from Public.

Order two, never hurts to have an extra one especially for $4.99

Were any of the ones you called on the list in the link I gave you? The Pick up a sim card down below? Those would be stores that should have them. There are MANY other retailers that have Telus and Koodo signage big and small that are not the right store selling these sims. Only corporate stores. And MobileKlinik (which is only operated by Telus, not other retailers).

I have been told by all the local to me Koodo/Telus stores that since Public Mobile has gone 100% online they sold out of the PM cards and were not getting anymore I had to order online, I will order from Amazon and move on.  Thanks all for your responses.

@DennyCrane  I too was one back in April not to get it . And they offered reimburse or send out new one I said ok send new one . Was when they were offering free ones anyways . And it showed up with in the week from then . But I’m with you I prefer physical SIM card over eSIM and typically just go to the mall and pick them up when needed

@jmbfit  We are just customers like you trying to help . But Amazon a good option if you can call around to local Telus Koodo store for availability and pick up . But at the very least reach out to support and ask them to reimburse you for it keeping receipt .

@jmbfit

you are patient, and PM owes you an apology for the trouble and the cost of your extra sim card on Amazon

remember to message them back and ask them for reimbursement of the cost

Thanks I will  move forward with Amazon

I have reached out and they have said they sent me out another, for a total of 4-5 times and still no sim, I am currently on Public, but wanted one for my Husband and I have started in April and have contacted them 4 maybe 5 times and each time I am told they are sending one out and I get a receipt but never a sim...supposed to have sent out another one Aug 3, nothing yet and we are paying for his plan with another service big bucks and it has been off contract since April so that is when I started this adventure...when I transfered my phone no problem sim can within a week...so not sure what has happened over at public/telus but I am over frustrated

@Handy1 PM keeps saying the issue is resolved, yet we keep hearing more complaints like this one. I think it's safe to safe the issue is not resolved. At this point OP should just order the sim from Amazon and either take the $5 loss, or call PM for a refund (not another sim).

@jmbfit  There where issues with SIM card orders back in April many people affected . But I think they have since sorted it all out . I strongly encourage you to contact support if you have been charged for several missing SIM cards

@dust2dust Agree. I'd find a local brick and mortar, then Amazon, then esim, then PM fulfilled physical sim...so maybe second to last lol.

@DennyCrane- Oh I agree. I don't like the whole thing about esims. I can never understand people willing to wait for deliveries though. And then there's price consciousness.
But I would go to a store to buy a sim anyway.
But finally, it's always good to know all the options. That's what I provided.

@jmbfit

this is the same sim card as what PM selling, except PM is now selling the new design but this one works

The title is a bit misleading Prepaid sim card, it is just a PM sim card for PM's Prepaid service

I would go with Amazon for it quick and trackable shipping

@dust2dust  I would advise against esim until it can be transferred between devices. Only as a last resort would I recommend it in the current state.

Are you currently a customer with working service here?
If not then maybe your phone is esim capable and you could sign up using that.
You could also click on the Pick up a sim card link down below and find a store near you and call ahead and go there and pick one up.

@jmbfit  Yes because you use that SIM card to activate it online

Add if you ordered SIM card from PM 4 months ago and still haven’t received it if you reach out to support they may reimburse you for the new card by submitting receipt @jmbfit

Yes, absolutely! It's much quicker to get a sim via Amazon than via PM direct.
