I finally got the port out text message and I typed “Yes”.
is the text message supposed to send another message confirming they got my “yes” message?
nothing came back!

@takyanyim It can take a little while for the switchover, but if you still have the PM sim in the phone keep checking to see if it still works. Once it has stopped working then power off the phone, take out the PM sim and insert the Freedom sim, restart the phone that should be it.

That should be it. After you reboot your device and can call/txt with Freedom mobile SIM, then you're all good. Your Public Mobile service will be deactivated and you will no longer be charged.

@takyanyim No that’s it now try the freedom sim in the phone and reboot the device . Once successfully ported over to freedom it will automatically close your PM account and you won’t be charged again
