We are presently in the US until the end of the month.
I reactivated our phones after reporting them lost or stolen while here in the U.S.
I changed our plans to $50.00 per 30 days so we could talk and text from here in the U.S.
I thought this would allow us to talk and text to Canada?
I tried a test text message and received the following 611 message:
"Sorry you plan does not include sending texts while in the U.S. Incoming are texts included.
To add a US Roaming Add-On, visit this website"
Having paid $50.00 each for my wife and me to reactivate, do I now have to:
1. Pay an additional $10.00 for ten days for each phone?
2. What happens to these payments should I decide to report one or both lost or stolen again?

@delichef Mistakes like yours happen fairly regularly. I suggest you make the effort to contact the moderators and explain your confusion. Ask politely if they would revert the new $50 plans to whatever your normal plans would be and credit the balance to Available Funds.
If they agree, you can then use your Available Funds to purchase 10 days US roaming add-ons.

@delichef Unfortunately the above plan only works within Canada.

As mentioned above you cannot call or text from the US with your current PM plan. You will need to purchase a US Roaming add-on.

Yes.

US Roaming add-ons expire 10 days after they are purchased. Reporting your phone lost/stolen has no effect on the 10 days.

However you do have incoming texts and maybe even incoming calling. If one of you gets a US sim you Wil be able to communicate with each other fairly well with hotspotting , WiFi and the free incoming. Have some extra funds on each account for the person without the US sim just in case you need the one of the roaming add ons in an emergency.

Edit: Oops! Thanks @Sarlye I didn't notice that.....lol. 7 day money back guarantee too....if you want to work that angle with two lines then keep one! After 3 months the intro price can be locked in prepaid for a year.....$180 is pretty cheap for 3gb and $240 For 8gb if you travel to the US a lot.

As Public Mobile is a prepaid service, I would suggest only upgrade the roaming for one phone and hotspot to the other if you are always together.
What I normally do in the states is switch one of our phones to a lower plan and add the roaming to the lower plan for 10 days.

The plan is confusing. It's Canada and US-wide only from Canada.
You will have to buy a U.S roaming addon to talk and text in the US, unfortunately.

Unfortunately there is no longer a plan that includes US roaming. There are only US roaming 10 day add ons. The plan you changed to includes unlimited calling to the US from Canada only. You would have to add funds to your account to purchase a US roaming add on. Alternatively you could shop around for a US sim like mint mobiles if you are there for a longer stay or visit frequently.

Your new plan does not cover US roaming. It does cover calling the USA when you are in Canada.
You will need to buy a 10 day roaming package if you want to use your phone in the USA.

Unlimited Talk, International Text and 250MB Data for just $20 for 10 days.
U.S. Talk and Text Bundle
Unlimited Talk and International Text for just $15 for 10 days.
U.S. Talk Only

U.S. Data Only
250MB Data for $10, 500MB Data for $15 and 1GB Data for $20 for 10 days.
If you report your phone lost or stolen, your phone will stop working and you won't be billed for the next payment date. You will still use up whatever time is remaining in this 30 day cycle.

@delichef that plan is misleading. It only works if you call from Canada to the US. You have to add the $15, 10 day US roaming talk, text add on to call/ text within the US.
