No service at home more than 70% of the day

No service and dropped calls plague me daily. I reboot, have checked sim in another phone, move about my 1 br mobile trying for better signal. I’m wondering if the power lines along the road in front of my place play a role

@dfergus50 did you try the 3G Only trick?

Also, which are you are in ?  City and province?

what phone you are using? brand and model?

You might want to confirm if the network towers far away from you here:

Look for Bell and Telus towers only

@dfergus50  - 70% of the time with no service, is no good.

Does any of the below troubleshooting help with your services?

*turn off your phone,then reboot

*removing your SIM, then reinserting it

*go into airplane mode, then going back to regular mode

*perform a reset network settings on your device

*try your SIM card into another compatible phone for a few days to see if the issues are the same...this could rule out a device issue/setting.

*manually select the 3G / WCDMA ONLY network in your Mobile Connections area in your settings (temporarily) for dropping or unable to make incoming/outgoing calls

@dfergus50

Since power lines exist virtually everywhere, it's not likely the problem (unless you're physically within feet of them - which i wouldn't recommend)

If this is a recent (worsening) problem, I might recommend contacting the Customer Support agents to have them reprovision your account/SIM.

Others have reported improvements in service after this.

To contact a Customer Support Agent, there are 2 methods:

  1. Use the ticketing system for a faster response time. Click here and type Customer Support Agent, then select Contact Us, then select Other (or the topic that more closely matches your request).  Click the result which states Click here to submit a ticket and follow the prompts,  or,
  2. Send a private message to the Customer Support Agent by clicking here  You’ll need to be logged into your Community account for the link to work.

Watch for their response in your Community private mailbox which will be indicated by a number on the small envelope icon to the left of your Community avatar.

@dfergus50

Has it always been this way or just recently? Is the problem just with calling or is mobile data snd texts affected as well? Try toggling airplane mode on/off. See if that helps.

If not try changing your setting to 3G only. Afterwards go to Settings>>About phone>>SIM Card Status >> you will have a reading between -50dBm to -120dBm. That will be your 3G network signal strength. That will help us determine the nature of your issue and whether it will be a fix for the moment. Voice calls use the 3G network only.
