New phone new sim

I have a new phone which came with a public mobile sim card. How do I keep my old PM phone number?

If you already have PM account and active subscription just remove old sim and insert it into new phone.
Keep new sim as spare and do not activate it.

you don't need to use the new sim card.

what you need to do is to move the sim card from the old phone to the new phone, then it will work without problem.

however, if you lost your old sim card with the old phone, then you will have to login My Account (using email to receive 2FA - Click Didn't receive code and then click Send email  ) and then go to Profile page and update the sim card number

Sounds like you can take your old sim out, and put it in the new phone. Power off and then turn on again. 🙂
