New Activation

Summergirl

Oh boy!! I have been locked out twice trying to finish activating my new sim and account. Every code that is sent to my email comes back invalid, Public has already taken the funds from my bank account when i registered my sim card. Am I being scammed, is this even a mobile provider? The help bot is no bloody help at all!!

@Summergirl

With PM you need some computer or cell phone knowledge and lots of patience.

If your co-workers didn’t give you a referral code for a $10 credit on your next bill…just ask them then private message a CS_Agent that you forgot to add it during activation of your SIM.😉

Or us know if you need one since we can’t post it on this public forum.😉

Bear in mind, however, the option cannot be used to replace an incorrect referral code entered (so long as it’s a valid referral code) or if the person you got it from you no longer ‘like’ and you want to benefit someone else.

In that case, the code stays, regardless.

@Chalupa_Batman

The same benefits that would apply if it was entered during activation would apply if added after activation.

The referrer would receive the standard $1 on each renewal (one point if on public points) and the referee would get the $10 credit in their available funds between 72 and 96 hours after it was added.

I did not know that. Thanks for the 411 @HALIMACS .  So is it just for the $10 off or does that include the referral code for your "sponsor" to get credited every month as well?

The referral code can be added after the activation @Chalupa_Batman  - happens often around here that users forget or only become aware of that option after activation.

Think it's too late now since she already signed up. 🙂

OK. So this was one step I was unaware of. You're porting in from another provider? If so, then there is a 90 minute window to receive a text message from your old provider. If you said yes, it's best to leave their SIM card in until you see their name disappear from the top of your phone. Once their name is gone, it means the transfer is complete. However if you didn't say YES yet and missed it, then you'll need to put your old SIM back in and you'll have to contact a special port department. I'll send you the number.

We can gladly give you one @Summergirl , just ask for it and one of us can private message you ours and you can have PM CS Agents apply it afterward.

Those cheeky xxxxxxxx never even gave me a referral code!! I'm hoping once I switch my phone number from my old provider that I don't run into anymore snags for a little while anyway. Fingers crossed I am going to try and put the sim in

hi @Summergirl

if you have porting requestes,  reply yes to your old carrier sms for approving the port before putting PM  sim card in

No need to apologize @Summergirl  The more information the better.

Yes. Please put the SIM card in your phone. Make sure you phone is turned off first. Then reboot your phone. Public Mobile should come up on the screen. You can download the Public Mobile app as well.

Your co-workers are correct though. I swear by it as well. I have to ask. How did you choose which of the 4 you used the referral code from to get the $10 discount and they get $1 off per month off their bill?  With my co-workers who had it, I told them the first person who buys me a coffee wins! LOL

Thank you for your reply. You are correct in not doing homework, four of my coworkers swear by public. I jumped on the band wagon and now feel too old to navigate this haha. I was able to go on and make an initial account to purchase a plan and activate my sim card and credit card information. I have not put the new sim card in my phone yet ( should I do this immediately? ) This eversure identity step is what seems to be stopping me from getting any farther. Long winded, I'm sorry

Hi @Summergirl

Public Mobile is not a scam. LOL. It's a part of Telus.

You clearly didn't do any homework before you signed up for Public Mobile. The reason Public Mobile is so cheap is because they don't have call centers with poorly paid agents. This forum is how people get helped. With tons of awesome members and customers like you. There is still a way to reach customer service using this link.

https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/notes/composepage/note-to-user-id/22437

But let us try to help you first before you ask for customer service. We are pretty smart here. Smarter than the average bear! I hope you're not too young enough to get that Yogi Bear reference. LOL

What I would do is this. I'd wait 1 hour before logging in again. Then close your browser, go to settings, clear your cache. Close browser and re open it.  Try to log in again. And try one more time.

If that doesn't work, try the app on your phone. I have a write up that makes it super easy to do. Let us know what step your at and if you need more help.
