Mastercard Debit not accepted?

I have a BMO Mastercard debit card that I have tried to pay my public mobile bill with but it won’t accept it. I’ve read that PM accepts Mastercard credit. Do they not accept Mastercard debit? Thanks!

I’m pretty sure I entered all my details in correctly. I’ll try contacting them and re emerging my card details again tomorrow! Thank you for all your advice!

Thanks for confirming a BMO mastercard/debit card is accepted by pm....I thought so but couldnt confirm for sure.

Did you make an error when entering the details? You can only make 2 attempted payments or card replacements or voucher payments combined before having to wait out one full hour. More than 5 attempts in a 24 hour period with the same info will result in a fraud alert hold and require intervention by customer support. Unless it's urgent I would wait at least a day before contacting customer support since the system issue likely has overwhelmed customer support and wait times are likely much longer than usual and with the support ticket prioritization via SIMon also not functioning urgent issues cannot be automatically brought to the attention of agents. Non urgent issues (not that I am saying you don't have an urgent issue) by customers should just be left for another day.....

I would Not try to do anything with My Account today as it is not working.

MC Debit should be accepted as payment method. Don't waste your time today as you will not be able to log in until problem is fixed. If you have to pay bill today try to get voucher and pay calling 611.

HI @KatieCrowther    my friend added a BMO mastercard debit last year and he was able to add and keep using it for Autopay,  But it was last year, not sure if the new My Account broke it

If you don't have another payment method, you can always get a voucher from a convenience store or SDM. Though, if you want auto pay, might I suggest getting a prepaid Koho Mastercard or Wealthsimple Cash Card, you can get cashback rewards!

@KatieCrowther   I've tested the BMO MC Debit card awhile ago by adding it (temporarily) to the self serve account and added $5 to the account and there was no problem.  PM is also one of the vendors listed as a payee on the MC Debit website.   Not sure why you're unable to add it. 

Try login using incognito/private mode and double check for any typos.  Could be related the current system issue too, so perhaps purchase a voucher from SDM, London Drugs, 7/11 or Shell and you can add the funds by dialing 611 on the phone for now.

@KatieCrowther I think Mastercard Debit is hit or miss 

But if you just logged in today and tried, tiu might want to try again  later as MY Account is not fully functioning today

Are you able to add the card but it does not accept payment from it? Or it rejects the card altogether?

Public mobile accepting mastercard/debit is YMMV although you would expect it to be accepted from one of the 5 big banks in Canada.
