Keep phone number

How often do I need to make a payment to keep my phone number? I will be overseas for 6 months, unable to use my Canadian number, but want to ensure I have it for when I return

@AlyssaBrown1  Unsubscribe would be the way to go.

a different idea is...just before you go, downsize to cheapest plan ($15). Make sure you have a valid credit card or debit card set to Autopay (Subscribed)...then every 30 days your plan will renew automatically. For 6 months, your plan costs will be under $100 and you'll still have full access when you return home. Then you can upgrade to whichever plan you like. That way you don't have to worry about renewing from afar.

You could pause your service, after which point you have to renew every 90 days with any plan to keep your account and phone number active.  This pause/unpause could be repeated until you return and resume your usual plan.

Turn off automatic subscription but please note that you will lose your number after 90 days of no payment. To avoid this, one suggestion is to change your plan to the $15 plan (if you're not on that plan already)  so you avoid paying  a lot of money for service that you won't be using. Just make a note to pay again before the 90 days are up. Then pay again. The only draw back is the current plan that you are may not be available again after the 6 months.

Hi @AlyssaBrown1

PM only allows just before 90 days to bring it back to life. After that, it won't work. The only option is to, just before the 90 days, drop your plan down to the cheapest of $15, make that payment online, then remove the subscription option so your card doesn't get charged again. Then when you come back you can pick a new plan and off you go....

@AlyssaBrown1 Subscribe to the $15 dollar plan, let it lapse (don't pay) the next renewal and you will have 90 days to pay again before you lose the number and account. Pay around day 85 so if there is a glitch you have time to fix it. Repeat this process (pay $15, then don't pay next renewal)as long as you need to. $15 essentially gets you 120 days before the next one is due.
