And all this still without offering wifi calling such a shame BOO !

Yes I have the 15$ 250MB data plan right now, but I don't think I picked the 18$ plan yet

Thanks slusagm…I had done that, but didn’t scroll down enough to see the upcoming subscription plan.

You already scheduled it that's why it "disappeared" from the available choices of plan change. Go to Subscription & add-on page and it will show you that you have the $18 scheduled plan change on next renewal

Hi slusagm…I’ve just noticed the most recent posts wrt the $18 1GB data plan having disappeared. I currently have the $15 500 MB data plan and, on October 15th, I chose to switch to the $18 1 GB data plan at my renewal on November 1st. Will this still happen, or will I now have to pay $20 per month instead of the $18 come November 1st?
Thanks for your help.

Do you have a $15 plan ?
Or If you have picked that $18 and scheduled it to change on next renewal, you won't see it there
10-22-2025 03:33 PM
Do you guys still see the 18$ 1GB coverage plan? The lowest priced one I see online at the moment is 20$ and there is no data.
10-22-2025 03:29 PM
Okay thanks
10-22-2025 03:27 PM
Like all price increase with any company, you cannot stop it
You can however oicna better $18 plan. There is the 1GB plan to change to. Soz you will pay the same $18 but with more data
10-22-2025 03:24 PM
Is there a way to prevent this price hike or to opt to keep it at 15$?
10-21-2025 11:52 PM
Rather than paying $18 for your unchanged $15 plan (service options) is better to take the $18 plan for the UNLIMITED OUT BOUND CALLING and access to the 4G NETWORK. It’s good value. But if the data is useless to you, there are other annual plans with no data on 4G and 5G that you might want to google for.
10-21-2025 09:48 PM
The $3 increase is only for $15 plan. No price hike for other plan.
Of course no one can guarantee anything, and all providers can increase price with notice
10-21-2025 09:36 PM
Yes, also have free voip based apps like fongo, textfree and Google Voice, but they all require wifi or data. I wish we could get a text only plan with 500mb data for $10. Are there any prepaid data sims for less than the price of freedom or koodo $149/year plan?

I have 3 phones that doesn’t have any SIM/eSIM (no plan with any carriers) but all have FREE calling and texting when connected to home or public wifi. Downloaded TextNow app to all 3 phones and each phones have their own phone numbers.
I also have the TextNow SIM for free calling and texting plus essential data while in the USA.
10-21-2025 08:23 PM
Ok, but are you sure the $18 plan won't just become $21? How long will it stay at $18?
For most people, the better option would be switching to Freedom or Koodo for the $149/year plan.

Literally a month after choosing the new $15 4g 500mb plan, I get a text saying it is going up to $18. How is this even legal?
Since there is no benefit to having autopay enabled, I think I will be turning it off and manually renewing.
They are increasing my plan fee by $3month thinking it will get them an extra $36/year.

hi @smurfit
it didn't matter you upgrade the plan or not, both $15 - 250Mb 3G plan and $15 - 500Mb 4G plan will see the $3 increase
in fact, there is a new $18 plan with 1GB now. The Community members all agree that since the plan is going to be $18, it is to our best interest to upgrade to that new $18 plan 1GB. You might not need the extra data now, but you never know, you might need it one day. And you are going to be paying $18 anyway, so get the better plan
Sorry, no one will be able to keep the $15 price after Oct 31
10-21-2025 08:08 PM
I recently upgraded my $15 3g plan to a new $15 4g plan. I have only had it for a couple of months and now it apparently is going up to $18/month. I don't need the data, so how can I get my old $15 plan back? I consider this to be a bait and switch scam. There are many people that only need a phone for safety reasons and don't need bells and whistles. Please give us some consideration.

hi @Alexa22
As far as we know, the $18-1GB plan will stay the same price. The $3 price hike is only specific to the two $15 plans
10-20-2025 02:27 PM
Thanks @hTideGnow - Just to confirm, there will be no increases for the $18 plan
10-20-2025 02:21 PM
hi @Alexa22
the $18 - 1GB plan will stay the same price. Only $15 plan will change to $18 , the $3 is not an increase for everyone
and yes, if you see the $18-1GB plan available for you, get that plan, it is much better than stay with your current $15 250Mb or 500Mb paln and get the $3 increases

Hello, I've had the basic plan that included 100 min talk and 1 GB data. I was advised that starting Oct 30, it will go up from $15 to $18. When I logged in to see my options, my $15 plan shows only text/call minutes, has my plan changed? Also there is another plan for $18 that includes unlimited calls and 1 GB data
Can anyone explain the available plans? I need the basic plan, I don't understand what the changes are. Also, is the $18/month (unlimited calls + 1GB data) going to increase after Oct. 30th?
Thanks!

Thanks Grinch. In answer to your questions…I know I asked the questions on my own account because I have 2-step verification set up. My phone pings with the 6 digit code when I’m signing into my account and my husband’s phone pings when I sign into his account. Yes, we have two completely separate email accounts…that’s one of the requirements to set up two PM accounts…couldn’t have done it otherwise.
Thanks for your ‘example’ 🙂…of course, I wasn’t aware of that. I sure hope PM isn’t planning on making any more changes solely in their favour 🤨!
I can’t answer your last query…I don’t know what a gmail alias is 🤷🏻♀️.

You are correct. Like I said just subscribe to the new $18 plan that has the features you want at “renewal” … don’t wait …. just do change right now. When you change subscription you have the option to change now or change at renewal. Just go slow, think twice before you tap.
Each PM plan/phone number requires its own unique email address.
Who’s plan or phone number belongs to what email address?
My guess, you are logged onto the community with your husbands email address.
Communication of important changes etc are not PMs forte. There is value to check the forum every now and then.
For example.
edit: by any chance was a Gmail Alias or any other email alias used to set up either your or your husbands account?

Thanks, Grinch. So, to make sure I understand, if I select the $18 plan that’s currently available and choose ‘change at next cycle’, come November 1st, I’ll be on the $18 1 GB plan?
Also, I get what you’re saying wrt the notification emails but that doesn’t explain why the notifications came to my husband’s email rather than mine…how can that even happen when we have two separate accounts, email addresses and phone numbers…and I signed out of one before signing into the other?? I rarely sign into my PM account…only when I have a problem or a question. I only found out about the price increase because I came here to ask a question. Shouldn’t PM send a text or email to inform their members of any important changes?
Thanks again, Grinch.

Okay, I lied 🙂…one more question…for this session, I’ve been logging in and out of my account and my husband’s account but I’m asking these questions under my own account so the responses come to my own email address. Why on earth are all these responses popping up on my husband’s phone under his email address??
Thanks again.

Just take the new $18 plan and have it start upon renewal. New plan will start November 1. No extra charges will occur. Just don’t renew “now”.
Your community accounts are set up to email every thing. Turn it off where it bothers you. I have no (Zero email notifications turned on). I book mark the thread and delete it later.

I believe the text about the rate increase was telling us…..our current $15 plan would remain “as is” but would increase to $18. The text hinted to you, to check the plans being offered. For me the $18 plan (upon renewal) was a no brainer….gained 4G, unlimited out bound, and 1gb of data. Lost the 100LD minutes. <== depends upon what $15 plan you are on.

Hello,
Public Mobile would like you to upgrade the plan yourself to the $18 1GB plan that you see on your account. However, if you just leave it, that part is a bit fuzzy on me. Will I go from $15 500mb to $18 500mb or $18 1GB itself.
There was an email that came out that I'm trying to find. But in public mobile fashion, there is nothing in the announcement section I was able to find.

If you stay and wait until PM hikes your plan from $15 to $18 you will get exactly data as you have now with $15.
If you schedule plan change to current $18 1GB then you will get same service (minus 100 LD minutes) with 500MB data more.
Thus PM will have 2 $18 plans: one with 500MB (and probably 100 LD minutes) and another one with 1GB (no LD).
