Just curious what the justification is for a 20% increase?
Since there are different versions of the $15 plan, is it all $15 plans or just some?
Will there be any improvements to the $18 plan?
I will have to cancel a PM account as I just cannot afford it.
And what happened to the CTRC mandated $15 plan? Is it from Koodo, Telus or PM?
The new $15/$18 plan.

Yeah , OK ... lol . I was hoping you'd tell me that it was a typo and that the $20 plan actually had 3 gigs of data .
10-04-2025 09:37 AM
Yes, the $18 is a special discount for existing customers. If you decide to stay with PM, better choose that
Schedule the plan using Change on Renewal Niwas this special plan can be gone and you will regret

Just curious as well ... on my subscription page there is a plan for $18 and one for $20 and the description is exactly the same ... what am I missing ? Both are both unlimited T&T with 1gb data .

If you're happy with the plan as is just remember they don't start putting the price up until Oct 30 so if your payment date is Oct 28 or before you may not want to change your subscription until Oct 29 . I just about spent an extra 3$ by changing too early .

Nope. He will be paying the same as those who scheduled switch to current $18 plan - for less.

They will increase the plan to $18.00 and keep you at 500 MB.
You have to switch yourself on Renewal to the new $18.00 for 1 GB.
Do it before they remove this 'special ' then you will be paying more for less.

it's not automatic. if you want the new $18 plan for 1GB, which is a much greater deal, you need to login My Account->Change Subscription and schedule a plan change by clicking Change on Renewal

Hi,
I was just notified that my plan is going up to $18 from $15. I just noticed that the basic plan now at $18 offers 1 G of data compared to 500M on the old plan. Will my plan be automatically upgraded to the new basic plan since both are at $18 or do I have to change to the new plan.

These price creeps are how Canada maintains its top 5 ranking...

@GPX I second @Chalupa_Batman ’s comments, and understand your frustration. But a $3 increase in 5 years is actually pretty good considering a bag of Doritos went up $2 overnight. Everyone is worried about about PM raising the prices again, but I too don’t see it happening anytime soon.

Everyone, including those who have the $15 unlimited no data plans or $15 100 minutes 250mb plans are affected by this. The fact there hasn't been a price hike in years on that $15 is good. If it's going to $18, good chance you won't see another hike for several more years. One would hope. But threating to take your business elsewhere, that's a waste of breath. Companies like PM lose and gain clients daily, it's just business to them.

On one of my subscriptions( that i seldom use for privacy reasons), I was on the older 15$ (no data) plan forever.
Untill recently i saw there was a 15$ plan (same price, but with additional Data), easy choice!
I updated my plan to this newer 15$ + data plan, only to receive a text last month stating this plan is increasing by 3$ (18$) with absolutely no upgrade in the plan. It's just a good'ol plain price hike.
And i cannot go back to the 15$ (no data) plan as it's no longer offered. So I find myself screwed
I am not impressed, i have 5+ subscriptions with Public and I'm looking at moving to another company, because i know for a fact these price hikes will slowly creep up as they all usually do.
Very disappointing

you need to schedule the plan change to the $18 -1GB yourself. If you don't don anything, when the price hike comes, you will only be with the old plan 250Mb or 500Mb, same as the data you getting on your current $15 plan

Just wanted to ad ..pretty sure when I got this plan 3 G was the only option at that price ...the cheapest 4g plan at the time was $20 or $25 and didn't seem worth it at the time for what I use . Now in the last year they offered me the 4G 3gb plan for $20 3 times and I regret passing on it but I misunderstood and thought they were offering a data add on for my current plan not unlimited T&T with 3GB of data , so I declined . Oh well. 🙄
09-30-2025 11:06 AM
I guess I will find out in a few days when my account updates ... not changing anything till then . If they upgrade the plan with the upgrade in price , such is life . If they upgrade the price without upgrading the plan I guess we get to see the Trumpish aspect of PM management . 😀
09-30-2025 10:18 AM
Nothing to do with 3G plan or not. 3G plan is just about speed, capped at 3Mbps. You can use any of the 4G and 5G network even with. 3G plan
The price hike is about those $15 plan. Both $15 3G and 4G plans are seeing this $3 pice increase
09-30-2025 09:51 AM
Is it not just a forced upgrade to the minimum 4g plan so 3G becomes extinct ? So a higher price but you get more as well ?

I got the same message. I currently have $15.00 for 500 MB. Come October 30, I will be paying $18 for the same 500 MB.
For now, there is a $18 for 1 GB in My Account. I will make the switch on Renewal to this plan until if I decide what to do from there.
If not, you will pay more for same data.
09-29-2025 03:56 PM
If you do nothing, you plan will stay same and you will be paying $18
But there is a better $18 plan for 1GB , change to that plan yourself. Go to My Account -> Change Subscription, and choose that plan, use Change on Renewal to schedule the plan change

Hi,
Today, I got a message when I log in to the Public Mobile official website.
"Starting October 30, 2025, your monthly plan will increase by $3 per month, going from $15 to $18 on your next renewal date."
What does it mean? Does it mean my current subscription should pay an extra $3 per month, or my subscription will be changed to $18 per month the Data (for 1G of 4G ata) .
Thanks and regards,
Rock

@golfball wrote:Why has Public Mobile scheduled this price increase as well as the rewards cut for right before Black Friday? It almost seems like a deliberate upsell tactic.
Huh? Price increase October 30 2025.. Black Friday is Fri, Nov 28, 2025. Or are you concerned about the closeness to Halloween or the Mexican The Day of the Dead.

@maggiemetastasi wrote:$18 a month expires September 30, 2025, I believe after that date youll pay $20.
I would say … I don't think so. Look how long the $15 plan has been around.
Considering there could be 2 or MORE $15 plans that have different options included, do nothing and those plans will remain “as is” and the new charge will be $18. But what ever $15 plan is being subscribed by you, you have the option to subscribe to the $18 plan and start it on your next renewal date or wait til October 30 and pay your last $15 if it renews before October 30 (saving $3) and leave as is, or like mentioned subscribe to the $18 currently being offered and be over with it all …… I renewed 3 plans and they will start 1-3 weeks prematurely.
In my opinion only, as much as we don’t like increases the $18 plan is still a GOOD DEAL as more was offered vs the $15 plan …. like 750mb MORE data, UNLIMITED Canada Wide out bound calling (vs 100 minutes), and 4G vs 3G. The loss of 100 LD minutes was for a targeted group and I wouldn’t have used.

The above isn't correct. The $18 plan and $20 plan are different plans. The $18 plan stay at $18 indefinitely. While the $18 plan is subject to terms of service about possible future price increases (as are all plans), there is no set end date for that $18 price.

@Yummy fine print for #12 is in the terms and conditions on the main plans page at least:
12. Your Public Mobile subscription includes a rate plan that provides access to specific mobility services. Depending on plan details, rate plans have a fixed duration. Unless otherwise indicated in the rate plan description, a monthly subscription period is 30 days. If you are subscribed, your plan will auto-renew at the end of the fixed duration.

It looks like 3td tier providers and pre-paid services are not included in CRTC ruling.
It will be Nice if somebody posts that CRTC claim that Every provider has to offer $15 plan so we all stop guessing and stop unnecessary complaining (here).

Go into your account and click on change subscription, choose the new plan you want. It will change automatically to $18 a month but you will still have the same plan as now. but if you change your plan now youll get 1Gb of data and unlimited canada wide calling for same price.

unnecessary repetition

ow, I must of missed out on that plan I still had 100 minutes month calling and 250 of data. I decided to switch to new $18 plan with 1Gb data and unlimted calling. I buy my international calls as needed.
