I lost my phone, can I buy a new SIM card to continue using my old phone number?

I think if I buy a new SIM card, it gives me a new phone number and a new plan.

Is there a way that I can continue using my old phone number and perhaps with the same plan without me adjusting it?

HI @CountyDownIeUk   I think after Lost/Stolen, you have to go back and resume before you can perform other request, like reactivate account or in this case, Change SIM

@CountyDownIeUk    From a personal perspective, I would definitely suspend my account if I ever lost my phone before attempting a SIM change.

I'm not sure what the big hassle is regarding resuming service after suspension as I recently did just that without any issues.  Unless you are referring to losing the rewards temporarily?  Even then it's just a matter of submitting a request to CSA's to have that rectified.

@dabrSays:

Since the phone is lost I would first select the Plans/Add-ons tab, then Phone Lost/Stolen and Suspend Service.  Once you've updated the SIM (after verification), then you'll need to go back and Resume Service.  Log out and reboot phone.

@dabr

Just out of curiosity it the OP buys a SIM today and changes account with new SIM and Verifies by email.....why bother with suspend? As I have heard here, there is a bit of a hassle to remove the suspend.

HI @Raison   one more advise, do not buy the SIM card from PM, it takes long for them to send you the card

Buy it from a local mobile store.

@Raison   Replacing the SIM card will keep your phone number and account intact.  Log into your account and select Change SIM option on the right hand side of overview page and then follow prompts to add the new SIM.  You'll need to select either email/text for PM to send verification.

@Raison , you can continue using the same plan and phone number.  Please go into the self serve account and set the lost/stolen phone function while you secure a replacement SIM card.  Once you do that, you can go into the self serve account and do a SIM card replacement and restore the account by toggling the lost phone function.
