Can anyone suggest the best way to do this? Do I need to port my number out from the closed account to another provider, and then back in to Public Mobile? Is that the only way to do it? Is there any other way to accomplish what I want? Thank you.

I think we have a misunderstanding that probably is my mistake. In my case the agent just reinstated to the same account a past number I had changed.

Of course they can. I don't doubt that this happened, but they weren't supposed to do. When an exception is made for a customer, sometimes it's not advantageous to announce this to all Community members. That can actually make it so that the the policies become more strictly enforced. In the need, phone numbers aren't swappable between Public Mobile accounts.

@ Typhon
you might be helping a different OP with a different issue
OP for this one seems to be asking moving one number from one account to another:
I have (2) public mobile accounts and I want to close one of them and move that number to the other.
What you are talking about is about you changed number, you regret and you want it back

It's nothing to do with the CSA being hnice or not. CSAs have been instructed not to perofrm this procedure.

@ Typhon, you could be the lucky one (consider you are the only one reported the 60 days data counter 🙂 )
and not trying to stop OP from message agent and ask, but just want to make sure OP awares that swapping numbers like this is not norm and most of us got a NO from agent

@Typhon wrote:I have done this successfully - and think it's best you contact CS agent and relate the following procedure - First you close one account or update it's phone number - then you contact CS and request them to update the account you kept with the number you just deleted and they will almost instantly do it. For security reasons please make sure you know the PIN numbers etc on these accounts. CS agent told me that closed account numbers are not recycled and kept for 3 months so no problem finding your deleted number.
@ Typhon, you might be just lucky.
From what I understand, PM does not do this anymore

I never seen the option to Remove the Phone Number from EverSafe ID entirely, where do you see that?
Using the Mobile App or actual Website?

@Priority- I know you do. That's why I've been asking things of you. I found that remove option in the manage eversafe id and going into the phone number. There's a Remove option there. I wondered if you had tried it.
08-02-2023 02:27 AM
No, there is no way to Remove it.
That's why when you sign up with Lucky, you setup a new number with Lucky and update the EverSafe ID confirmation Number to that, than you port the Number from Public to Lucky, and when when you port it from Lucky back to Public it will work for EverSafe ID verification again.
Kinda complicated but I know my stuff..

It is far too complicated to even attempt what you are asking, which is why public mobile does not support that. To even do so your self through a porting out and in process will likely break something and result in your old account being lost regardless.

@Priority- Did you have a look at that remove option in eversafe?

Port to Lucky Mobile, and than transfer the number into the Public Mobile account you want to keep and it will than be Eligible for Port.
Make sure to change the number for 2FA on the EverSafe ID before Porting out and closing the Account, otherwise you won't be able to add it back for verification after.
Could result in a pause during Actiavtion, with assistance of CSA needed.

You cannot swap numbers between accounts at Public Mobile. I assume the account you want to switch numbers has more rewards/points. Yes, only way is to port that number out which will automatically close that PM account and then port that number back in.
