PM has secret formula how reward is calculated. Basically if you post answers to customer's questions, get awarded Solutions, receive Bravos - everything counts. The more you do of that the higher you climb in your ranking. Then once a month PM gets all scores together and determines who is in first 1,5,10, etc. percentage and distributes $ awards.
Bad practice is to open fake accounts and give yourself Bravos, accept your answers as solution and basically game the system. Posting (copy/paste) long answers covering every potential solution is frown upon too. You will get eventually caught and be banned from forum.
Be natural, helpful and you will be rewarded. There is more reward in 'thank you' from customer than $$ reward.
