Having problems again with MMS

Hi,

Since yesterday, I have been having problems with messages coming from iPhones. It happened to me a while back, and I had to change APN settings. Have they changed again 😞

HI @jobella3

yes, you likely have to create another new APN and enter all the information again

the reason is that the APN (for all carriers, not just PM) are stored on the phones internal memory. PM has updated the APN settings but of course the info in the phone is outdated and can't be updated.  The new OS will push away the current APN you have and read the APN from the phone's internal memory, which is outdated.  That's why you need to create a new APN again after any major OS update.  (I assume you don't have to do that with minor security updates)

Hi Softech

There was a new Android update last week on my OnePlus and I am having the same issue 😞

Is the information I need to check the same as last time?

Thanks for your help!

J

@jobella3

you can't, or at least shouldn't, turn it off as APN is the key to the use of data and MMS

people however can have multiple APNs for different things, but for most of us, one working copy is good enough

please not that any OnePlus major update might wipe what you changed on the APN and you might have to update it again.  So, keep this post handy 🙂

Thanks a million! It worked 🙂

Is it normal that I can't turn APN on or off?

Okay. Found it. However, I have an MMS proxy and not an MMSC proxy and it has numbers and not mmscproxy.mobility.ca. Should I remove these numbers?

Under APN type I have default,mms,agps,supl,fota,hipri. Should I remove those additional ones?

Thanks again for your help!

@jobella3

please follow the full list I posted above

if updating does not work, you will have to create a new one and use that new one instead

@jobella3   For Oneplus phones the first line of the APN needs to be in all caps, SP.MB.COM

Thanks will try this now

you can ignore the comment about make sure MMS is enabled, that is an iPhone thing.

And for you, your APN is the problem.   To get to APN screen

Open Settings: Navigate to the Settings app on your OnePlus device. Select SIM & Network: Scroll down and select the "SIM & Network" option. Choose SIM Card: If you have a dual SIM device, choose the SIM card you want to configure the APN settings for. Access Point Names: Select the "Access Point Names" option

Thanks. That's what I had to fix last time. Where do I find that again

@jobella3

did you just update the OS?  There has been some issue with OnePlus after the Android upgrade

With OnePlus, there might be a bit more work than simply updating.  Many confirmed that you need to delete the current APN profile first.  Then Add new profile and add according to this, please note case-sensitive and do not add extra spaces.  Remember to save the new APN and then reboot the phone before you try

Hi

Sorry for delay. I have a oneplus9.  Everything is turned on but can't receive any images via messages. I can send them though 😞

@jobella3  Your phone is an Android and it's just the message senders that are on iPhones?

Confirm these are enabled:

Settings >> Messages:
                   Send as SMS
                   MMS
And  Send and receive: Must display the Apple ID phone number and email address

@jobella3  Ensure you have MMS enabled in phone settings . And reboot the phone to start see if that helps

hi @jobella3

what iPhone you have?

the APN usually follows the Carrier Profile, make sure you carrier profile is updated

or if you need to manually update it, follow this

https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/on/get-help/articles/set-up-data-on-an-iphone

But basically, you just need to update one line

And forMMS, of course make sure you have the correct iMessage settings to allow send as Text and MMS

@jobella3

Is Roaming enabled in your iPhone settings? I assume that Send as SMS and MMS Messaging are both also enabled.

If you have iOS 18, you can set it to RCS Messaging…enable it if you have the latest iOS update.
