@emails2rohit

Is it 87mb or 8.7mb? Public mobile uses about a 5.2mb buffer for your mobile data. This gets reset nightly or when you toggle airplane mode on and turn your mobile data off. Then toggle airplane mode off. Log into your self serve account to see your data usage amount refreshed with data buffer amount added back to your available data.

The other 3.5mb are your system app's within your OS using small amounts of data when they first connect to mobile data especially when connecting to a new network and SIM card to configure your phone. They will use less the next time they connect to mobile data. These are the only apps in your phone that you cannot turn the background data off as they are essential to the operation of your phone.

Whatever you do....dont run a speed test in the next 72 hours before your 4G LTE data is throttled to mbps. Otherwise.....welcome to public mobile!

Unfortuantely, the odds are that this data really was used.  The phone doing updates was mentioned and it's important to note that especially on a brand new device, this is one of the first things that a phone does without warning.

@emails2rohit

Was the 87mb showing on your phone?

Was it cleared to “0” before you put the SIM in the phone?

Your account under View My Usage is up to date on your usage.

@emails2rohit   3 place to check

1. Check My Account -> Usage log (https://selfserve.publicmobile.ca/Overview/viewUsageChangePlan/)  , check what it shows there for lines showing Web.  Do not trust the sorting,  it does look like sorted but it is not.  Check all page, add the usage up , is that around 87Mb?

2 check your device Mobile page again

No updates / no background processes / No app usage.

I put sim in a new phone - it gave hello message.  I tried to check on line if my public mobile status is active.

Its a new number - new sim ....  Without ANY kind of usage - I see 87Mb used.

Hope it clarifies.

@emails2rohit   you put in the SIM in a new phone?  it is possible the phone trying to connect o load update or load backup files from cloud.  Make sure your device has wifi connected.  Situation like this is pretty much the device issue and not the network.

Are you on Android?  You can a check which app used the data if you look at the Mobile Data page on the Settings
