I am not able to make calls or receive calls.

Texts work though.

How to solve this problem?

Thanks

 @darlicious : Before I posted that, I read the whole thread. Did you edit after? I didn't look just now. Maybe I skimmed a little too much.

@Anonymous

Well I did just for a different reason.....

@ThrillsStudio

Be advised that now that you have enabled lost/stolen your rewards will not apply upon renewal. Make sure you are on autopay or have enough funds in your account to cover your renewal. Contact the moderators after renewal to have them add your rewards manually.

Wow. 6 pages and no regular suggested the ol' lost/stolen. ..myself included.

Glad you got it sorted.

Thanks guys.

Problem is solved using below solution provided by a moderator:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

try logging in to your self serve account and enable 'lost/stolen' for 5 min.

  • turn off phone and remove your sim
  • disable lost/stolen
  • reinstall the sim turn on phone
  • reset your network settings

1. From the home screen navigate to Settings>General>Reset
2. Tap Reset Network Settings
If prompted enter your passcode
3. Tap Reset Network Settings
4. Restart your phone

 The OP had an iPhone and once off wifi has discovered they cannot send SMS/MMS and have no data. Eliminating access to viewing and changing our simcards has not eliminated this issue but has instead caused a whole host of new ones.

Edit: Oh wait I misread that. @ThrillsStudio  your texting does work?

@Nezgar

I know, hard to remember all the details jumping between topics that go one for pages and for days.

And there is always the possibility that some functionality of voice calls has kicked the bucket in the phone.

Has anyone asked what happens when you call the phone? Caller hears ring back tone but the called phone does nothing? I would say to try answering at that time anyway (ringer not functioning) except calling out isn't working either.

I asked that OP “wasn’t in Manitoba” 3 pages ago... is in GTA.

Thanks... I missed that when skimming through all 5 pages. So then the second question, is the OP in an area with one of the newer towers that are LTE-only?

@ThrillsStudioCan you try forcing your phone to 3G only mode (no LTE) and see if you get a signal? (aka HSPA, WCDMA mode)

Are you in Winnipeg or Brandon by any chance? There were some network changes implemented in only those two cities that might cause reduced 3G coverage used for voice calls as of Tuesday.

@ThrillsStudio

If you cannot connect to 611 you may have been sim swapped. Ask the moderators to check the last 4 digits of your sim card in your phone to the ones in your account. To be safe put your phone in lost/stolen mode. ( Go to the plans page, click lost/ stolen, suspend your service.) Then change your security question and answer and your password. Check on your financials to see if they have been compromised.

Oh! So texting might not be working either. What about browsing on mobile data. Turn off wifi. What happens when you call 611? Does it answer and say things like balance and payment due in the future? Or does it ask for money right away?

Texting works, I tried after switching off wifi and lte

calling on 611, nothing happens.

No 611? hmmm

But you said you couldn't text to an Android phone.

And browsing the web?

Did you ever get around to trying the SIM in another unlocked, compatible phone?

I meant I texted to an android, so not imessage

no did not try on another phone, need to find it and charge it. Also i think tht phone has different size sim slot

Edit: (before you reply 🙂 how about a manual payment of $5 from that registered payment card and then restart the phone. If no luck then buy the $5 Canada talk add-on and then hopefully you should be able to call. It can stay on the account for the future seeing as how you're on the $15 plan.

So, when you turn off your mobile data and Wi-Fi, you're still able to send and receive texts?

AND, you're not able to receive or make any calls from either locally or outside your local area?

I have a nagging suspicion you may not have any mobile services and the texts you're sending and receiving may be through your iPhone's iMessage app. If that's the case, you may just have to make a payment and reactivate service.

yes I can send text without wifi or data.

Also my payments are auto and they were already paid this month.

@ThrillsStudio    It shouldn't matter what province your number is from (except for what your provincial tax rate maybe charged) if you have the Canada wide calling, which you do based upon your previous post.

Just a reminder that you are grandfathered into your $15 plan and if you opt to change plans anytime, you will not be able to go back to your old $15 plan as it has been discontinued.

So yes you're on the right $15 plan (the "2nd" one). Even with the provincial plan, you can call out to the same province you're physically in and take calls from anywhere...allegedly 🙂

Have you still not heard from the moderators?

yes, also I think the new plans apply to new connections, my plan will still remain Canada wide.

nope, did not hear from anybody till now.

@ThrillsStudio

By any chance, is it possible the 'texts' that are working could be in/out iMessages since you said you were using an iPhone?

Are you certain you have SMS service that is definitely working?

  • This plan includes: -
  • - 100 Minutes Canada-Wide Talk + Unlimited Incoming Minutes
  • - 250 MB at 3G speed
  • - Unlimited International Text

@ThrillsStudio wrote:

oh what's that?

@ThrillsStudio   I'm assuming this was in response to my post just now, so I'm just speculating if the problem with the calling is connected to PM's recent announcement of plan changes/prices here: https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Announcements/New-Province-Wide-Calling-Plans-Limited...

 @dabr : I agree. I think the roll-out has been problematic from the start. Particularly the $15 plan. Who would get province-only for the others right now anyway.

 @ThrillsStudio : Could you post back what you have under Plan Details.

ThrillsStudio
Good Citizen / Bon Citoyen

oh what's that?

@ThrillsStudio wrote:

I am on unlimited incoming one.

Also I rarely use calling these days so I have almost all minutes left.

@ThrillsStudio   Thanks for clarifying....hopefully moderators will get it sorted soon for you.

I'm wondering if it's anyway at all related to PM's new provincial only calling option for the $15 plan since the previous version with Canada wide calling has been eliminated altogether.

ThrillsStudio
Good Citizen / Bon Citoyen

OK I will look for the my old phone.

But I do not think phone has a problem, i can make calls using whatsapp, and also text messages.

@ThrillsStudio    I'm not sure if you ever clarified whether you are on the very first version of $15 plan with only 100 mins in/out, or the the second version with unlimited incoming mins too?   Just to rule out that you're not out of available mins if you're still on the old $15 plan...
