For the last several months I have been receiving spam calls to my public mobile number claiming to be from Bell, rogers, or Shaw. These are obviously phishing calls being made from India however they always appear to be coming from a different number so I can't block them. Does anyone know if public mobile offers some sort of call control service that would require an automated caller to to verify that they are not a machine before the call comes through to my mobile device? Thanks.

Call control only eliminate robo-dialers, but at the same time, it gives more trouble for your real friends and family when calling you
I see dont see why so hard to decline spam calls when you see on the caller display

I am considering moving from Koodo to Public. The only thing holding me back is the Call Control feature. Is this feature now available with Public? Alternatively, is there a similar service that can be added on? Please provide details about what Koodo currently offers.
Call Control helps reduce unwanted calls by prompting incoming callers to enter a randomly-generated number (0-9), which the caller must enter correctly before the call can be connected. Callers with no response (e.g. robo-dialers) or an incorrect response won’t be able to complete the call and will hear a standard Call Control message instead.
This feature also lets you manage preferences and maintain lists of Authorized and Blocked Callers on the Call Control page in Self Serve.
Call Control is free and optional.

I guess that's my only solution. As an addendum, since these thieves are using spoofed numbers you can tell if the unrecognized number is a scam by not answering and then immediately calling it back. You will get a " no such number" notification.

I like to answer the junk calls, and see if I can get a human on the line... and then try to keep them on the line as long as I can, as I have unlimited incoming calls on my $15 plan, and they are likely using a bulk VoIP calling trunk from whatever country they are calling from that costs them by the minute. The longer they are kept on the line, the more they pay! Even if you just ask them to hold on a minute, then put the phone down hehe. Or ask them how their genitals are doing, etc.

If it's an iphone you can block unknown numbers. Check Youtube.

@RBV Unfortunately, PM doesn't offer any call control services. If you use phone like PIxel, you can direct them to the google assistance on your behalf to figure out whether it is a fake or real call. Google phone app does a good job overall to auto block some spam calls. Scammers are getting smarter, they will first do a mass call just to see if anyone picks up. If you answer, but no one says anything, that means they marked your number as active line. They will then scam call you soon with another number. So the trick is to not answer calls from unknown numbers if you can. Let them leave a voicemail if they are calling in for real.

@RBV , you will need to use the spam call filter built into your phone app.
