Unless you have your phone's time set to the eastern time zone it is difficult to be exact with your data tracker to sync with the resetting of your plan data.

Very good explanations this far.
Set your data counter on your device to coincide with the start of the billing cycle so that the data displaying on the device is virtually identical as the data showing under the self-serve landing page.
It's best to reset it on the evening prior to account renewal.

PM takes about a 5MB buffer. If you turn your phone to airplane mode and reload the account page you will see it drop. Turn on the phone and reload and you will see it there again. Perfectly normal and doesn't add up on your limit.

@JANGHKIM to further add, some users describe the initial amount as a data buffer, it some times seems to appear and disappear when you turn data on or off on your phone.
In all my experiences the data usage counter gas been very very accurate. If you you android you can use data witness pm a free data tracking app that does 30 day increments

@JANGHKIM , the data usage meter does sometimes display odd behavior immediately after a renewal. The thing does not seem to go to zero. Interestingly, after a bit of actual usage, the meter properly resets. That said, you can check the detailed usage information and compare against the number shown in the overview tab. This is possible within a day or so after renewal but gets quite difficult deep into a plan cycle.
