Alternate U.S. coverage?

When the border does reopen and we are permitted to drive into the U.S. is there a chance that PM users can have an alternative to the current add-on? Now it is either $8 for 10 days of talk service in the U.S. but how about another option such as either $2 or $3 for say a 12 or 24 hour plan of service?

@ kb_mv ........chatr also has a $15 plan identical to PM's that charges 50 cents per minute in the U.S. to correct your previous post.

@electrical2771 Apologies, I did not see anything on their site less than $35.

Edit: went back saw it under Talk and Text with data bonus for autopay. Thanks. Previous post corrected.

10 days of service is either pointless or useless for persons who drive to the U.S. for a 5 hour shopping spree.

@electrical2771 So these add ons are of no use to you. I'm good with not having cell phone if I go to the US for 5 hours. At my age I can remember doing it before the era of cell phones. I would suggest a pay per use global/us sim or maybe consider leaving PM for a higher tier provider that offers seamless roaming.

Edit: If someone really needs me, there is free wifi everywhere now. I am available via messaging if need be.

With Freedom and chatr mobile the phones work automatically in the U.S. at the rate of $0.50 per minute. While that may or may not be a rip-off the point is a person does not need to lift a finger for service in the U.S..

I do agree there should be a "plan" or "opt-in" for automatic roaming (talk and data) .. as long as you have fund in your account, this auto plan (per min/per mb) kicks in automatically.  I guess as long as there is an maximum limit (like $10 per day or so), that would be good.

This will be useful to help people who forgot to setup ahead of their trip.. at least get them going first and they can then buy the other better plan when they have a chance later in the day

@electrical2771 Freedom isn't really a 3rd tier competitor of PM's. Chatr may have roaming but the cheapest plan I can see on their site is $35/month. Add in the 50 cents a minute, 30 cent's mms, 5 cents per MB roaming and it costs more than my $15 plan with an add on.

Edit: Found that Chatr does have $15 plan listed under talk and text plans with autopay bonus data.

@Triguy ,  curious. for the initial setup. .is this something we can order the SIM online and they ship it to Canada so we can arrange everything before our US trip?  or is this something I have to go down to US to setup in a store/kiosk?   Also, i can easily setup and top-up without a US address and credit card?

like other said.. i doubt they would do it.. mainly because the competitors also not providing these options.  Also, I think for a pre-paid service.. they try to limit the option to make it less confusing, also easier for them to manage.

Not likely; PM has never offered anything shorter than 10 days. If you do it a lot, keep an out for the old $60 plan that included USA roaming.

Sorry, but all roaming packages are as presented on the Public Mobile website and are 10 days in length.  I can't predict the future, but I don't see Public Mobile offering 12 hour add-ons.

@electrical2771 I can't see them offering this unless one of their competitors try it.
