I have an Alberta number. I used to be able to phone friends in BC and PM automatically added the 1 when i called them from my Contact list. Last year I moved back and continued to phone them in the same way. Now, suddenly in the last 2 weeks, when I try to phone a contact it says 8UV1 the call cannot be completed as dialed. Why the change, and how can I continue to use my contact list to actually talk to my friends?Hoping you friends@ Community can help

I am going to say that this concern is dialer dependent. Most if not all my contacts are saved with 10 digit number only without the 1 in front. The google dialer automatically appends 1 in front. I don't get any call failures. Previously I used to get that "long distance charges may apply" notification which goes away with adding 1. I have stop receiving that for quite a while now which means the dialer is taking care of things for me in the background.

@Lady-Mac You'll need to add 1 in front of any number whether it's long distance or not and this might be related to PM rolling out VoLTE to their customers, perhaps. Other customers have reported similar issue to yours over the last little while

@Lady-Mac look like this is the new norm here, need to add the 1 in front of the 10 digits.
If you have them on Contact list, add it the 1 to the number and make the call
