Hi,

I just changed my plan from 3G to 4g but I noticed i only have the cellular option of lte and 3g on my phone.  Will this update once the new  plan goes into effect or do I need a new sim?

Public Mobile never had SIM cards that didn't allow connections to the LTE network.  This is in contrast to carriers from before when when LTE didn't work unless upgrading the SIM card. Telus bought Public Mobile at time when most of those SIM cards swaps had already been completed by customers at the other carriers.

LTE is 4G. It's labeled differently depending on what phone you have but they're the same thing.

So yeah, like the others said, wait for the change to take effect and check your connection type.

Carriers have added to the confusion by refering to the HSPA network as 4g for several years.  To date, many phones actually mean the HSPA network when it gives a 4g indicator.

Your network wont change. We already use the 4g/LTE network, but our speed is throttled. All this plan should do is remove the throttle.

HI @carowich27   Yes, oracles confirmed that the new plan will take 24 to 48 hours to start.

You should be ok to just leave your phone to Automatic (some phones shows LTE/3G/2G), the phone will choose the LTE and connect at the best speed.

You can try to reboot the phone every couple hours and check if the new speed arrived
