30 days to use data?

Simon_freeze

am I looking at this correct?   I renewed by 1gb data, I use it up in about 2 months and I see there is a 30 day expiry now!!
Feels like I’m getting bent over on this.
basically I’m paying double now. I’ll be changing providers if this is the case.

What plan are you currently on ? It does appear that the 30 day expiry can be extended by 30 days by purchasing another data add on so you could with the right timing purchase the $15/1gb add on followed by 29/30 days later on the last day before expiry the $5/200mb add on. Not ideal as it would cost $20/1.2gb for 60 days but leftover data expiry could be extended by 30 days over and over again. This has not been fully tested yet but so far it appears to work in this manner.

Otherwise if you are on the $25 plan $14 more buys you 19gb of plan data for 30 days with the $39/20gb plan. It makes data add ons nearly obsolete and only relevant to $15 plan holders and the few remaining unlucky $13 50/50 plan holders.

You took the words right out of my mouth. More specifically the letters ARPU! 🤑🍆

In my opinion Data Add-ons that don't Expire should be added back but for a few dollars more than the ones that expire, so if you want one that carries over you'd have that option.

Just an idea? 🙃

@Simon_freeze , unfortunately as others have stated, Canada data add-ons expire 30 days after purchasing. This changed in May that it no longer rolls over until used up! 😔

@maximum_gato made a post “Clarification of Public Mobile Data Add on Expiry Changes and US Roaming Add ons about this in May that many of us commented on tagging @J_PM  hoping Public Mobile would change it back but I have lost hope on that! 😔

I am on the $15 3g plan & I rarely use much data so for emergencies like power outages I relied on data add-ons to last me several months! 😞 I no longer purchase any!

Yes, unfortunately PM changed the policy on Add-on expires after 30 days.

Good thing the More is Merrier promo add-on data and LD calling will roll-over to the next month.

Hey @Simon_freeze

Ya it sucks how they changed it to 30 days. I don't agree with that either. However, you can always upgrade your plan to something that has more data. Just a thought. Which plan are you on now?

That's new as of May. If you have other reasons to leave, then sure; but if it's just over this, no one else offers rollover data add-on's either. Public Mobile was an outlier until they changed to 30 days back in May. It's unfortunate from the consumer point of view, but from PM's point of view it's a way of pushing subscribers into higher ARPU plans.
