Hey Community,

We have an important announcement to share with our subscribers who are currently enrolled in our old Rewards program.

We’re making changes to our rewards program and are sharing how these changes impact some of our subscribers. Starting in May, we’ll be retiring our old Rewards program and moving all subscribers to our Public Points™ program.

We launched the Public Points™ program in January 2022 to provide our subscribers with more ways to earn and spend rewards, with greater flexibility. As part of our commitment to continuously evolve our products and services, it's time to retire our old Rewards program and shift our focus on enhancing our Points program.

To show our appreciation for your continued loyalty, subscribers on our old Rewards program will receive a special thank you. We'll send you a text message when it has been added to your account by March 31st.

We’re excited to continue providing you, our valued subscribers, more opportunities to earn and spend rewards with Public Points™ moving forward.

To learn more about your move to Public Points, check out our FAQ here.

What I've noticed during the past year's Black Friday and Boxing Day deals is that there were some more appealing options out there but with our old rewards program, the extra $7 discount may it unattractive to go elsewhere.  If I look back in the context without the old rewards, for sure I would've been better off at any of the other brands including Freedom, Fido, Virgin, etc...

I should clarify...you can use wifi calling while traveling internationally to call and text back to Canada free of charge.  I think you know who....can't say because posts are being censored

Who has free WiFi international calling I'm intrigued

Let's not kid ourselves.  Without the disruptor competitor, these Public Mobile plans would not even exist. Too bad Public hasn't copied their free international wifi calling, amazing international roaming addons, live customer service....I could go on

By chance is that competitor plan Freedom mobile? In terms of pm price and plans I think freedom comes the closest.. with the other companies there is always a catch . I've been with pm from boxing day 2023 my plan went from 34$ 20gig to 34$ 40gig now it's 34$ 50gig . The reception is great I mainly use my phone for streaming Spotify / YouTube etc if calling I use WhatsApp call so far the 5g speed haven't disappoint.. I had Bell Fido Rogers. None came close to this price tag none had even a chance of the rewards that can accumulate to help you pay your bill, none had perfect service that justify the price tag . I'm assuming legacy members in the beginning pm reception wasn't as great as it is now so the company had  those great  rewards to keep you, if I was a Legacy customer I'll be pissed also . But currently atleast for me in the GTA the only company that comes close to what pm offer is Freedom for price but no great rewards. 1 point a month for every referral if you know alot of people or have a big family get them to switch that's a win for you plus the small points back when you pay your bill that's still better than nothing..

I think we now know that not enough of us switched so some MBA did teh math and figured it was worth it to force everyone over.

I'm voting with my dollar and going elsewhere.

I'll reserve judgement on this until I see the actual impact on my bill. What it will absolutely do is cause me to look around at other options for the four lines I pay for, which I haven't felt the need to do for years. So PM, if you still compare well, no problem. Otherwise, big problem.

What exactly is the point of my loyalty if you are just going to screw your loyal customers anyways? I guess PM isn't safe from en**bleep**tification.

Been a huge advocate of PM for a long time but I guess it's time to go back to the grind of churning all the crappy mobile carriers we have in Canada.

Yes, lets see what Telus says in their Q1 / Q2 revenue and subscribers on PM!

Quite honestly the reception on Telus has always sucked for me, my friend would be on Bell and we would drive a but north and I'd have nothing and he was on Bell with full service.

PC Mobile is on Bell and they now have better priced plans. I had them on one of my accounts and their web portal is 10 times better than eversafe as well

I already downgraded all 4 of my public accounts from $40 to $34 and with PC I get 5 extra gigs for auto pay.

Now that Loyalty is pretty much gone there really is no reason to stay.

Bell uses Telus towers & vice versa. Is there something wrong with your phone?

Even with my 5 referrals, moving to fizz is a simple proposition. With some loyalty, I will get up to 6$ off per month and data rollover, even if I switch plans.

Take note public mobile, as the budget conscious customers you accrued over the years will jump ship!

The only customers that will be left, at least in Quebec, will be the 15$ plans

You had one job, Telus. One job.

That job was not to screw me over.  Simple, really, but you managed to screw it up.

Now I have to start researching new plans with a Bell or Rogers fighter brand, and port four lines over.

See, what you fail to understand is without your legacy loyalty plan, Public Mobile has absolutely nothing to recommend it.   You offer less support and less features than competitors at the same price point.

And no, don't tout your points rewards, that's a joke.

Well this is disappointing. I've been a cusomer for about 10 years and enjoyed the simplicity of the 'old' rewards program.  To be blunt the new points is less reward and more effort.  I appreciated the building of my loyalty at $1/yr for up to 5 years and yes it kept me here. The autopay $2 was ok although other companies offer something similar.  If my reading and calulations are close i'd get 5% (or about $1.70) & after waiting a year $10 (or equivalent  to <$1/mo).  If doubtful that is a material amount in the world of competitive mobile plans.  We have 1 family member on a competitor plan and the reception has been better than rumored.

This has been an amazing company for many years.

I've always been so excited to pitch Public Mobile to all my family and friends because it saved myself and my family a bunch of money over the years. I couldn't believe others paid so much for their plans elsewhere. I loved the fact that Public Mobile seemed like a disruptor. A neat new way to do business and one who thanked their customers for being loyal with guaranteed money off every month. One with great flexibility and the promise that we could always stay with the plan we signed up for until something better came up.

It's sad to see it change. It no longer feels like that same company that truly valued the customers that helped them build up the base of subscribers. I hope Public Mobile reverses this decision for all the legacy members and doesn't force us to start shopping around. I stayed with Public because I felt a loyalty to them and I felt that they respected that loyalty. It now feels like just another annoying phone company. It's likely time to start considering other options.

Well done PM or shall I say Telus exec....way to organize a mass exodus..... so just a little math for you 4 lines (3 on 15$ 1 on 25$) almost 5 years on all of them so now will pay a whopping (6*4)=24$ more a month 288$ a year....or at least that's what your department is hoping for in their nice charts and biz plan ....( yeah I worked at Telus for 15 years before leaving the company I know how Telus functions/reasons)

reality is you won't ever see that kind of Return on your move....what you will see instead is 4 lines less and a yearly loss of stable recurring revenue of 552$..not counting referrals... they will be too packing it up and leave ...of course we won't be all leaving right away we will give you That one month increased revenue your exec will be boasting About in their board meetings... but not because we plan to stay...simply because we will be using up all of our non expiring add on LD calls data and so on before bidding you adieu forever. The old rewards is what made PM and made people stay and onboard new clients( we did the work for you and you paid those that reached the 7 $ discount after 5 years still a lot less than what a single call in any Telus call center, support/sale etc. ,would have costed you)...once that is gone so will be your loyal user base and referrals...good luck with that....you won't fail but you won't accomplish any major return in revenue from this move and attracting new loyal clients that generates stable predictable revenues will no longer happen . What you will see is clients you get with a cheaper deal that will not think twice of dumping you when a better deal comes around from providers that actually offer a sales department with offers to lure you away and a retention/loyalty dept. to keep you happy with them with offers when you think of churning...Who's going to stop the exodus of clients from leaving PM your chat BOT lol ....better and cheaper providers out there already with better service and better prices already once the discounts ends here no reasons to stay. Prepaid freedom yearly plan (just to mention one) is already a much cheaper better deal than anything PM can offer and I could call a person if I ever need to.

Good luck and farewell from a soon to be ex loyal client.

Each year at PM you receive $1 off your bill up to $5. You also receive $2 off your bill for autopay. So you could receive $7 off your bill each cycle.

@Kydd this change won't affect you if you are already on Public Points

People on the legacy rewards system will be migrated into the Public Points Rewards on May 2024.  But if you are interested to know, this will give you some info with the old rewards system

No no.  Gradually phasing to an amalgamated program so no one notices and no one is adversely affected. Ohhhhh that feels soooooo gooooood. Get it over with and take your gains and losses.

@ridgeline

I have heard that before. Thanks for bringing it back in the forefront. For Telus it makes sense. I only use my Home Service Telus points for payments against my billing. (But the real BAD part about that is….you can put points against your Telus Home Billing once every 12 months … another slanted policy).  Forget lotteries for an iPhone or TV…..and not interested in a gift card. Telus do your consolidation ….. as long as I can put points into dollars against my specific billing for Telus, Koodo, Public Mobile and Telus Health etc etc.  In other words PM points to PM and Koodo points to Koodo etc etc.

SeniorCitizen
Model Citizen / Citoyen Modèle

Telus has no access to a call Center either. You can’t get by the IVR.  Maybe if I say…..I want to cancel my account, I will be put through.

Back in February 2022 in the Introduction to Public Points announcement in the Community, there was the following post from a subscriber (killer23d) on 02-10-2022 @ 04:23 PM:

"I've just spoken with someone higher-up with Telus, the new point system currently is a "transition period". Although no solid timeline has been determined, eventually EVERYONE will be migrated over to the point system as an unified corporate strategy. PM Marketing team is fully aware of the disaster or should i say cluster-f ? But their goal is to move forward and will have better languages and notifications in the future to reduce confusion." In response to this subscriber, @J_PM from Public Mobile posted the following on 02-21-2022 @ 09:06 PM:

"Joining Public Points is optional. Our focus is to improve the new Rewards plan, rather than force people over. No plans to migrate customers into the new program." Here is the link to the official post:
