[NEW]: Log In Faster with Face ID or Fingerprint

We have some exciting news for you!

Starting October 16, 2025, you can use Face ID or your fingerprint (biometric authentication) to log in to the Public Mobile app. No more password typing every time you want to check your account.

To use biometric authentication, you'll need to update your Public Mobile app to the latest version from your device's app store.

Here's what this means for you:

• Faster login - just use Face ID or your fingerprint and you're in your account instantly.
• Your privacy stays protected - All your biometric data remains on your device. We won't collect or store any of your fingerprint or facial recognition information.
• Simple setup - We'll ask you if you want to set it up next time you log in, or you can enable it anytime in your account settings. Works with any device that supports Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint authentication.
• Whether you're checking your usage, managing your account, or making payments - accessing your Public Mobile app just got a lot easier.

This is a great update from Public mobile

Biometric login is definitely a big step forward in terms of both convenience and security. Not having to enter a password every time makes checking usage or managing the account much quicker.

It’s also good to see that biometric data stays on the device, which addresses the main privacy concern most users usually have with Face ID or fingerprint authentication.

Looking forward to trying this out after updating the app. Thanks for keeping the experience simple and user-friendly.

Samsung generally does not use its facial recognition to unlock secure third-party apps.  If you check your app, you should see there is really no app supporting this on Samsung

Thank you so much for this feature. So far, I can only use fingerprint on my Samsung phone. Will Face ID be coming to Samsung soon? I really love this feature and was just curious if it will be available. I know my mom’s iPhone has Face ID for biometrics. Thanks!

Most customers will never use the fingerprint sensor log in feature in the Public Mobile app, because the expected beheavior would be for app to ask for you fingerprint (if that feature is enabled) every time that the app is loaded, but the Public Mobile app doesn't ask for your fingerprint unless the customer goes back in after manually logging out afer the previous use.

Never had a problem and been using it for years. Basically your phone saves your password and when the app asks your password the phoe uses your finger print to authenticate before it puts in your normal password. The app doesn't store or use your fingerprint.

I have to do more research on bio info. I dont know how its done technically.

I dont want any hardware, software or service companies have access to my bio info, as I dont really know how the info is handled. Does Google or apple have access to the bio info on my phone. I have a I hone and never use any of it

Ya. I thought using Authenticator app is cheaper for mobile carriers compare to sending SMS message which I can't receive indoors.

It is OK. But I do prefer able to use authenticator app after logging in.

Now that it’s been updated twice in fairly quick succession to iOS app version 3.0.2 it seems to be working more smoothly and delivering the sign in security updates as promised.

Every time I try to log in I get an error message!!!   So not so good after all😡  I have so many problems with this app every time I need to sign in!! So annoying.

passkey is good, but I don't think any carrier has it. 

and Bell login is worst, always 2FA and no trusted device settings either.

@hTideGnow - I bet it is. I wish it was a different implementation into it, such as having a Passkey would be more effective / efficient for multiple devices trying to login into 1 account without the need for a password.
